The Frightened Left

Victor Davis Hanson
American Greatness

An impeachment inquiry looms and the shrieks of outrage are beginning.

The Left is now suddenly voicing warnings that those who recently undermined the system could be targeted by their own legacies.

So, for example, now we read why impeachment is suddenly a dangerous gambit.

True, the Founders did not envision impeaching a first-term president the moment he lost his House majority. Nor did they imagine impeaching a president twice. And they certainly did not anticipate trying an ex-president in the Senate as a private citizen.

In modern times, the nation has not rushed to impeach a president without a special counsel investigation to determine whether the chief executive was guilty of “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”

But thanks to the Democrats, recent impeachments now have destroyed all those guardrails. After all, Trump was impeached the first time on the fumes of an exhaustive but fruitless 22-month, $40 million special counsel investigation—one designed to find him guilty of Russian “collusion” and thus to be removed from office but found no actionable offenses at all.

Instead, dejected Democrats moved immediately for a second try. In September 2019 a few weeks after Trump had announced his 2020 reelection bid, the Democratic House began to impeach the president on the new grounds that he had talked to the President Zelensky of Ukraine and said he might delay offensive arms shipments—unless the Ukrainians could demonstrate that they had ended corruption and, in particular, were no longer influenced by the Biden family quid pro quo shakedowns.

Trump was proven right: the Biden family is not just corrupt, but, in particular, Joe Biden as head of the family and Vice President had intervened in the internal politics of an aid recipient, by threatening not to delay but rather to cancel outright all U.S. aid to Ukraine—unless it fired Viktor Shokin, a Ukrainian prosecutor.

Shokin was then looking into the misadventures of Biden’s son Hunter, and why the Vice President’s imbecilic son was receiving lucrative compensation on the boards of a Ukrainian energy company Burisma, yet without any demonstrable expertise or education in matters of energy policy.

Since Trump was impeached, we now know that Joe Biden did lie that he had no connection with or even knowledge of his son’s business. And we know that the fired prosecutor believed the Bidens were recipients of bribes. We know that contrary to Biden’s assertions, he was not following State Department policy.

In contrast, the U.S. had, in fact, lauded Shokin’s efforts to repress corruption. In sum, Biden was undermining the stated policy of the U.S. government to protect his son’s—and his own—efforts to leverage money from Kyiv by monetizing the influence of his own Vice Presidency. In some sense, Biden was guilty of the very “treason” charge—altering U.S. foreign policy for personal benefit—by which Rep. Adam Schiff had earlier falsely accused Trump.

Given that reality, it is easy to argue that the House impeached Donald Trump in 2019 for crimes that he did not commit, but which the current president Joe Biden most certainly had during his Vice Presidency.

But weaponizing impeachment is just one baleful legacy of the Left. There are plenty more of their own precedents that Leftists now would not wish to have applied to themselves:

  • Will the next president have the FBI pay social media censors to suppress the dissemination of any news it feels is unhelpful to the reelection of a Republican president?
  • Is it OK now for the next Vice President to invite his son onto Air Force Two to cement multimillion dollars deals that benefit both, with Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian oligarchs who enjoy government ties?
  • Should a conservative billionaire stealthily insert $419 million late in the 2024 campaign to absorb the work of registrars in key voting precincts?
  • If a Democratic president wins the 2024 election should conservative groups riot at the Capitol on Inauguration Day? Should a conservative celebrity yell out to the assembled crowd of protestors that she dreams of blowing up the White House? And if a Republican wins, should he prosecute any Democratic rioters who once again swarm Washington on Inauguration Day and charge them with “insurrection,” meting out long prisons sentences to the convicted?
  • Is Joe Biden now vulnerable to being impeached for systematic family corruption, or using the Department of Justice to obstruct the prosecution of his son in his last days in office, and then being tried in the Senate as a private citizen?
  • If the Republicans gain the Senate, will they move to end the filibuster in agreement with Democratic assertions that it is “racist” and a “Jim Crow relic”?
  • If the midwestern Electoral College “Blue Wall” seems to reappear, or if Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada recreate new blue walls, will there be a conservative effort to end the constitutionally mandated Electoral College?
  • If in 2024 there is a narrow Democratic win in the Electoral College, should conservative celebrities conspire to run ads urging the electors to reject their constitutional duties and not vote in accordance with their state’s popular vote that went Democratic? Should a Republican third-party candidate sue to stop a state’s selection of its electors on grounds the voting machines were rigged?
  • If Supreme Court decisions begin to appear to favor the left, will Republicans talk of packing the court, or have the DOJ turn a blind eye when mobs began to swarm the homes of liberal justices? Should the conservative media go after liberal judges with serial accusations of corruption? Should the Republican Senate leader assemble a mob of pro-life protestors at the doors of the court and call out Justices Sotomayor or Jackson by name, with threats that they will soon reap the whirlwind they have sowed, given they have no idea of what is about to “hit” them? Should conservative legal scholars urge the country to ignore Supreme Court decisions deemed liberal?
  • Will local prosecutors in red jurisdictions begin filing criminal charges against leading Democratic candidates on various charges, among them accusations of old inflated real estate assessments, campaign finance laws, questioning ballot results, or taking classified documents home? If Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton were to run in 2024, will their past illicit behavior gain the attention of a city or state attorney in Utah, West Virginia, or Wyoming?
  • If Joe Biden continues to decline at his present rate, will Republicans demand he be given the Montreal Cognitive Assessment? Will they subpoena Ivy League psychiatrists to testify that an intervention is needed to remove him from office? And will an FBI director and a deputy Attorney General plan to wear wires, and record Biden in his private moments of senility, as a way of convincing the cabinet or Congress that he is demonstrably mentally unfit for office?
  • In the 2024 election, should the Republican nominee hire a foreign ex-spy to compile falsehoods about the Democratic opponent and then seed them among the media, and Department of Justice? Should the FBI hire such a Republican contractor and likewise use him to gather dirt on the Democratic nominee?
  • If there appears incriminating evidence concerning a Republican nominee, should the FBI retrieve such evidence, keep it under wraps, lie about its veracity, and instead go along with media and ex-intelligence officers assertions that it is a fraudulent production of Russian intelligence?
  • Will conservative CIA and FBI directors, and the Director of National Intelligence be given exemptions from prosecutions for systematically lying while under oath in Congress or to federal investigators?
  • Will conservative celebrities ritually on social media, without fear of censorship, brag about ways of decapitating, shooting, stabbing, burning, or blowing up the Democratic nominee?
  • Since in many states the statues of limitations have not yet expired for arson, murder, assault, looting, and attacks on 1,500 police officers during the summer 2020 riots, will state prosecutors now begin identifying those 14,000 once arrested and mostly released, and begin refiling charges of conspiracy, racketeering—and “insurrection”?
  • Will they also file insurrection charges against those who torched a federal courthouse, a police precinct, and a historic Washington DC church, or conspired to riot and swarm the White House grounds in an effort to attack the President of the United States?
  • Will they file charges against Vice President Kamala Harris for “inciting” ongoing violent demonstrations with monotonous, emphatic, and repetitive threats in the weeks before her nomination? Contrary to liberal “fact checkers” at time of nationwide violence, Harris certainly did not distinguish violent from non-violent protests, but in fact implied that they were intimately tied to the upcoming election and beyond. So given the hundreds of police officers injured, the hundreds of millions in property damage, and the dozens killed, what exactly did Harris mean by tying that ongoing summer of often violent protests to Election Day?:

“But they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop, and this is a movement, I’m telling you. They’re not gonna stop, and everyone beware, because they’re not gonna stop. They’re not gonna stop before Election Day in November, and they’re not gonna stop after Election Day. Everyone should take note of that, on both levels, that they’re not going to let up — and they should not. And we should not.”

Was the above more or less inflammatory than Trump’s January 6 remarks for which in part he is under indictment: “We fight like hell. And if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore…I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard”?

In sum, the Democratic leadership along with the media long ago deemed that Donald Trump posed such an existential threat to democracy that they were entitled to destroy democratic norms to destroy him.

Their actions were predicated on three assumptions: one, they had that right because they were more sophisticated, morally superior, and smarter than the rest of America and thus deserved the exemption to blow up customs and norms to achieve the “correct” ends; two, whatever damage they did to long-standing protocols of equal justice under the law paled in comparison to the damage that Trump supposedly would or did do; and three, their conservative opposition either lacked the wherewithal, the brains, or the audacity to emulate such behavior and thus there was no worry anyone would dare do to them what they did to others.

And now? For the first time, given recent polls, the Left is scared that a Republican House and perhaps soon a Republican Senate and White House might follow its own precedents, and use new leftwing guidelines to enact conservative agendas.

  1. I read every word of this article.

This should be required reading for every student from 6th grade and up.

Perhaps the students could enlighten any parents who are asleep at the wheel.

    1. Its a great article but it assumes that the GOP might actually turn the tables on the dems now that they may have the chance. The sitting congress under McCarthy is proof that they will not. This is all kabuki theatre and these congress people are puppets to those more “influential”. The only thing that will change will be the excuses as to why they don’t…

      1. Nothing will happen in the Senate as long as the McConnell/Thune Uniparty is in control of the so-called Republican Party. They represents their paymasters in Beijing.

  2. This is like reading a horror novel, not real life, but yet it is happening today. We don’t want revenge, we want retribution for the crimes committed not fabricated crimes. We need the truth not the lies and propaganda that the left is feeding the public. Time for balance in the judicial system again.

Absolutely should go after 2020 rioters who destroyed property and lives. Especially those who rioted at Lafayette Square and set fire to the historic Church, sending the President into a safe house. They interfered with the functioning of the government, and was premeditated coordinated attack – qualifies under RICO. Insurrection! Put them all in that horrible DC jail!

    1. You know the GOP won’t do anything, EVER, that actually protects the constitution and serves the people. The system is so broken in cannot repair itself.

    2. If they go after the BLM rioters, they have plenty of money to pay for lawyers, with all the millions those Democrat cities are giving them bc they were arrested at all. It’s sickening!

  4. Psalm 11:3-7 AMP
“If the foundations [of a godly society] are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” [4] The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD’S throne is in heaven. His eyes see, His eyelids test the children of men. [5] The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked, And His soul hates the [malevolent] one who loves violence. [6] Upon the wicked (godless) He will rain coals of fire; Fire and brimstone and a dreadful scorching wind will be the portion of their cup [of doom]. [7] For the LORD is [absolutely] righteous, He loves righteousness (virtue, morality, justice); The upright shall see His face.

    1. No reasonable person can disagree and the issue for determination is, how do we right the ship of state or is it destined to sink?
The first concern is the election of 24 and how crooked will the democrats behave? Is there any reason to believe they’ll behave at all? I’m a cynic and the drmocrat course of conduct since 2016 leaves little room for optimism or is there an optimist with a contrarian view,? The democrat bolsheviks have power, have abused it beyond recognition and placed the country in a pre civil war mentality. How can there ever be any sensible reconciliation with malevolent fools?
2024 is a fight to remove Marxist radicals from power and decide if we want to restore the Coonstitutional Republic to a position where the radical Marxists can again plan its overthrow?
The Republic is still gravely at risk with no guarantee it can ever be restored!!

  5. A very complete list of atrocities the Democrats have committed to achieve power. i do not think they will stop even to the point of assassination! We must remain viligant!

  6. I can only disagree with “Shokin was then looking into the misadventures of Biden’s son Hunter” this unconscionably appears to victimize the Bidens as his target, and not the known corrupt group who they earned from?
The All American father and son team were willing co-conspirators with Mykola “Nikolay” Zlochevsky a known Russian asset & Ukrainian Oligarch, his CFO Vadym Pozharsky, with whom VP Biden ate dinner in DC together with Russian Oligarch Yelena Baturina all of whom paid Bidens millions in Cash! Now explain how our NSC, NSA, CIA, FBI, Dept of State, Dept of Treasury and Dept of Homeland Security as the parent of Secret Service permitted this meeting to not only occur, for a VP to be in the same room, but for criminal benefits to transfer through US banks thereafter?

Was Cafe Milano swept before the VP’s arrival? Was there backgrounds on the staff? Were there agents stationed within the building?

  7. Yes . . . as Shapiro put it, the glass is now broken . . . yet I do worry about de-civilization . . . perhaps, if their day does arrive, the actualized majority won’t have to counter-punch just as below-the-belt (or in the reverse case, above-the-belt) to make the point?

  8. Is it possible that the democrat party will run out the clock on the primaries, suppressing competition like RFK Jr., allowing President Biden to accumulate enough pledged delegates to secure the nomination – and a few weeks before the convention announce that for health reasons he will not run and on the same day pardon Hunter? Could he then encourage / instruct his pledged delegates to support the nomination of “?” (sparing that individual the trials and tribulations of primary campaigns, since campaigning from “the basement” is an option only for Joe). Who would party leadership turn to in their hour of crisis? Would it be the former Senator, Secretary of State, and Presidential Candidate – Hillary Rodham Clinton? Surely Joe’s own pardon would follow on inauguration day.

  9. Brilliant as always – unfortunately, preaching to the choir. Should those whose minds need to be changed due to their own ignorance per chance most of the brain cells required to read this article they wouldn’t understand it.

  10. Victor, I agree they are never going to quit until they feel the wrath
Of the American people. We the people are what make up this extraordinary country. May we find the necessary perseverance to destroy the evil that our generation has been charged to do. God bless you and your family.

Not by whispering to each other or around our friends, but BE HEARD on how bad this administration is. When JOE says “This list of news people I was told to call on today” should that not alert us to how dangerously we are living in a country that has no competent leader. WE have to step up and spread the word to stop what is going on. Our – sit on their hands – republican reps are doing about NOTHING to help us. Take it in YOUR hands and be heard!!!!

  12. Jeff Sessions and Bill Barr still show up on TV like they actually did something in the midst of all this! I read somewhere that “most republicans are democrats and no democrats are republicans. Yep! Whoever said it, is absolutely correct! BTW, I intentionally do not capitalize the r and the d. Neither deserve the distinction. Thanks for all you do Dr. Hanson!

    1. There is a gigantic overriding question. It is about the silence coming from congress. These people, on both sides, although smart enough to see these things, remain frozen in place, unwilling to deal with the reality of the unraveling of America. There can only be one reason: they have been threatened with retaliation should they stray from the engineered, party political narrative. The insanity of our present situation is obvious to any rational person. The corrupted, scripted actions of our “representatives” is obvious.

    2. Charles- I think the phrase you highlighted was first proposed by Dan Bongino. At least his use of the phrase was the first I heard it used.

  13. Another excellent article. Of course the republicans will not do any of these things. Why not? But all these things are making a parody of our constitution, which we all should respect.

  14. If it takes an impeachment proceedings against Biden to bring the necessary attention to his treasonous behavior and the main stream media’s complicity, then by all means begin the proceedings.

The bottom line is Biden, the Democratic Party, and the MSM have all now been caught red handed. This must not be allowed to be swept under the carpet. This must be used as a wake up call for the our slumbering citizenry. Our Republic depends on it.

  15. Is Nancy Pelosi really seeking office ? And Chuck Schumer scares me to death and his evil smile. An exorcism should be performed on Joe Bidens administration. Then the building would be empty

  16. Who coulda guessed so many decades ago that a tv comedian used to announce weekly, “How sweet it is!”, would be so appropriate in 2024?

  17. There is no need for hate speech laws and to censor speech directly. Instead, let people discuss and debate their ideas. Let the listener determine what is closer to truth and morality.

  18. Oh I wish the right would do the same to the communist left if they get control of the senate and presidency. But I’d bet dollars to pesos that they wouldn’t. They would not do away with the 3 letter agencies. They wouldn’t get rid of the right people in the judicial system so they c9uld do these things. The current Republicans are not much better than the communist. Most of them are closet communist. The people would have to elect a whole new class of Representatives in order to turn this government around. Most importantly the citizens would have to repent and turn from there evil ways so God would once again put his hand of protection on this country. So those changes could be made. If the one doesn’t happen. None of the others will happen.

  19. I am waiting on an answer from Jonathon Turley and Alan Dershowitz to see if the American people can, through a national initiative, assign an interim executive officer to run the affairs of this country from now until the next scheduled presidential election. Both as a way for us as citizens to fulfill our obligation to protect the Constitution as is I believe my responsibility and further, in fulfilling the words of Abraham Lincoln:
“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution but to overthrow the men who would pervert the Constitution.”

There is no rule of law in the country at the moment, and that means there will be no rule of law [equal] governing the next election, and wishing for such electoral outcome will be our demise.
Without the citizenry rising up, in what “is” a constitutionally mandated, if not “in exact words” defined, sea change of action as I suggest, I do not see how we reinstate concepts like even-handedness, integrity and simply honesty.

The election of 2024 may well find that a “Thirty Years War” unfolds between the two forces of religious political thought and belief systems until men in both America and Europe come to their collective senses and stop the useless slaughter of individuals, groups and even ideals. Each side is more than willing to view the other as a resident evil that must be rooted out and destroyed while never realizing that each individual and group is destroying what remains as a civilization. A pox upon both houses.

Claudius’ line comes to mind, from the end of episode 8 of “I, Claudius”, “Reign of Terror”:

“O Rome, you are finished! You are despicable!”

  22. Payback ought to be hell…I doubt that it will be. The people who have thrust these outrageous acts upon our country ought also be sent to hell. That decision is above my paygrade, but consider this my strong recommendation!

  23. Nice job Victor! I can see why the jerks who left derogatory comments about repetition were justifiably concerned. Every time I read the litany of constitutional and legal insults committed by our marxist “friends” , I become more enraged. I am aware that this is exactly what progressive marxists want. They want me (and others) to do what any normal person would do when they are repeatedly “poked in the eye”. I wonder what type of response they hope we will elicit?

    1. They became terrified on j6 because they weren’t ready. They needed to perfectly establish a corrupt and willing armed IRS agency along with law enforcement officials. They hope by their intimidation and in your face unequal justice we will simply cower and summit.

  24. That last paragraph ….. the italized one, should be used against KH. as an incitement to riot
and violence ….. therefore, unavailability for high office of the land.

  25. I am not sure why so many people have positive comments about this article and the writer. If you say the same thing for years, do you deserve the same level of accolade? What is the point? Incite some emotion from the readers?

Tucker Carlson interviewed a man who claims he had sex with Barack Obama in 1999. Some say this interview hurts his credibility. But at least he is trying to do something different. In my view it certainly hurts Obama’s reputation, and points out the hypocrisy of the Left without having to even say it! That’s kind of brilliant, don’t you think?

  26. Dr. Victor Davis Hanson, you did a supreme job on this piece! You were quite comprehensive with the exception of one significant thing, which is the attempted military coup by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) General Mark Milley. If he hadn’t been stopped by some of the cooler heads of the other generals in the JCS, other members of the Cabinet, and the legal beagles, we would have had a military coup led by traitor Gen. Milley.

Defense officials confirmed that Trump was still Commander in Chief (CINC), and they refused to participate in a military coup. They cannot remove the President from the chain of command. That would have amounted to a military coup, the officials said. See

As CJCS, Gen. Milley hid nuke codes from President Trump. He held secret calls with Chinese defense officials. He surrendered to the Taliban and armed them with between $80 Billion and $85 billion worth of U.S. weapons during the cowardly retreat from Afghanistan. He has injected white rage and critical race theory (CRT) into our Armed Forces.

Gen. Milley has committed nothing short of treason. He aided, abetted, and comforted the enemy. He has made our military forces undesirable by our young men and women such that the military cannot find enough volunteer recruits because of our woke military. Gen. Milley is worse than Gen. Benedict Arnold, who was hanged for treason. The same result awaits this traitor of all traitors.

    1. Petalumajock – it’s really nice to see the affect that Victor has on his readership. Stirred up emotions against the iniquities of the marxist progressives provokes a mandatory response. Thankfully, many have provided testimony to this here in the comment section. When a critical mass of like minded individuals is reached, corrective action by necessity must follow.

  27. Poor Victor. Always a day late and a dollar short. You naivete knows no bounds. This was a war between good and evil. Sadly, evil won. The Marxists control the deep state. They control the media, the educational system, the Intelligence Community, Wall Street, Hollywood, big tech, and the banking system. With that knowledge, even you should be aware that what you’ve written is superfluous. The real conservatives have no power. Not only won’t they do anything against the ruling Marxists, they can’t do anything. The few who continue to resist will continue to be persecuted. If they become effective, they will be eliminated. The Clintons alone have eliminated how may people? And yet are lauded on a daily basis.

  28. Victor, Democrats won’t even follow the “on the other the other hand” exercise illustrating their utter and obvious malfeasance because “it’s politics” and “anything goes” regardless of the absurdity or plain obvious evil of their positions, thoughts, policies and practices. All is justified because they really are scared and genuinely believe Trump is Hitler and MAGA are Nazis, so anything goes and whatever must be done to foil him, even kill him, is completely okay, excusable. They are true believers. The problem is everything they know is wrong, everything. There is no argument or reasoning with them possible at all. They simply must be politically destroyed. My Democrat brother (almost the same age, both with advanced Cal degrees from the 70s, both successful sole proprietors in our respective professions) said if he thought as I do that life begins at conception and with exceptions for rape, incest and mother’s health, should be protected, he would “do everything to destroy me” if I took his position that the fetus is an “nonviable tissue mass”. There would be no discussion. Try to imagine the depravity of Democrat thinking. It’s unfathomable. They simply must be politically destroyed, sorry to say. No compromise is possible with Democrats.

  29. Great summary of the crap the dem scum pulled off, sadly it means nothing because the gop has done nothing to stop cheat by mail. It’s over folks, best arm up and be ready for when the authoritarians REALLY start acting out on their true intentions.

  30. Sitting here in Adelaide, Australia I mourn for my home country (born in Dallas, Texas). Please keep speaking your truth, Victor. We are listening.

  31. As usual, of course, you’re right Victor. I can’t ever recall a time you weren’t. And as I’m sure you’re aware, it’s going to take something other than voting to excise this metastasized cancer from our lives. The illegitimate administration and its demonic tentacles in the three letter agencies and beyond are not going to change their ways or depart of their own free will with a gigantic mea culpa. They are going to have to be removed the same way our founders removed the chains of bondage from King George. If this nation is worth fighting for, then the time to fight is now.

  32. The corruption articulated here must be punished, and punished to the absolute extent of the law. Simply stopping the graft from continuing is an entirely insufficient response. Every one of these traitors, regardless of party, must be forced to bear the consequences of their crimes. There is no restoring the faith in our Republic unless we make harsh examples of those who so flagrantly violated the oath they took in office.

  33. The Democrat party is the party of liars, thieves, and perverts. All of whom are angry, dishonest, unhappy, selfish, children, demanding they get their way by any means necessary.

  34. VDH is a brilliant author, but this is very very old news. The R’s/right have shown no appetite for turnabout being fair play.

  35. Victor, Victor, so many questions. The answer is, “42”. How you use the answer is up to you.
    “42” charges of treason.
“42” separate felony charges of money laundry, bribery, racketeering.
“42” Democrat senators that vote “present” at Biden’s impeachment.
“42” senators and congressmen charged with felonies regarding COVID funds.
“42” is half of Kamala’s functioning IQ. (Though you didn’t ask).
“42” phone calls, meetings, and emails where Joe engaged in Hunter’s business.
“42” years between Hunter’s age and his youngest sexual exploit.
“42” more indictments for Trump in 24, “42” backwards
Pelosi turned “42” “42” years ago.
And, …, “42” more snide answers.

  36. Proving that Trump’s 1st impeachment was bogus is that Ukraine officials are embezzling funds provided by the USA taxpayer. No doubt Trump would not be funneling any additional cash payments to fund the Ukraine government. Whether Russia would have gone into Donbas, had the election of 2020 be honest and Trump president, is unknowable now; but we do not Putin did nothing during Trump’s presidency.

Connect more dots: “Biden was undermining the stated policy of the U.S. government to protect his son’s—and his own—efforts to leverage money from Kyiv by monetizing the influence of his own Vice Presidency.” Recall that in his bragadocious “well SOB” rant, Biden told the Ukrainian PM to call Obama regarding not getting the $1Billion. We might presume the PM made some inquiry before terminating Shokin. Evidence Obama is corrupt and got his ‘10%’? I certainly believe so even if it wouldn’t hold up in a court of law! But the US is only now dealing with the court of public opinion, the rule of law was flushed down the crapper!

  37. I admire your optimism, sir. What you list above assumes matters will proceed in the United States according to some civilized forms that closely resemble those of the past, that the tables will turn, and that some form of justice will out..

Respectively: It won’t, they won’t, and it certainly won’t unless Americans stand up and fight.

The hard and bitter fact you and your readers appear not to realize is that the government of the United States has been overthrown. After what they have done to the country, the communists cannot possibly afford to permit any degree of past normality to return. They will continue to emulate the outer appearance of America’s politcal system, but it will be different at its core: there will be no personal freedom; nor will there be any Constitutional law as it was originally conceived. Our freedom will be a memory.

    But I admire your optimism.

    1. Ahem. Respectfully, I despise your pessimism as do the souls of our Founding Fathers and the souls of all that have died for our country. No big deal to you but it is for me.

      1. Craig, I wish I were being pessimistic. (My father, incidentally, served in WWII in the Solomon Islands, and his ship won a Presidential Citation for rescuing several hundred victims of the sinking of the USS Helena while they fought the Japs off four times. My All-America cred is just as good as yours.)

The coup started in 2008 when the SDS finally won the White House. After sabotaging Trump’s admininstration, Obama is now in his fourth term. I am only acknowledgeing what is now a reality. You may notice that our Congress has been compromised for several years and no longer represents its constituents. You may notice you no longer have freedom of speech. You may notice that you no longer have equal rights under the law. You may notice the second amendment is being threatened seriously. You may have noticed that everyone graduating from college is a Marxist. You may notice that all signs of Christianity are being effaced from the government. I could go on.

The CCP is at war with us and is supporting all this criminality and subversion. Check into Frank Gaffney’s work.

With respect, wishing it weren’t so is not constructive as we haven’t much time left to change this situation around. I am not being overly pessimistic. This is the reality, and we will never, unfortunately, be able to vote our way out of it. It makes me sick that our kids will inherit it.

  38. I sure wish everyone would STOP telling me how nervous and scared the DemComs are. They actually haven’t got a care in the world. The GOP has allowed them–nay, HELPED them–to rig the game in so many different ways that they can’t possible LOSE the “election.” As for their constant criminal behavior, political corruption, and influence peddling…they can do that ON VIDEO an still not face any consequences! Finally, every Republican “representative” works against their own platform to help move the Democrat agenda forward! WTF do the Democrats have to be at all scared of?

  39. I’m going to leave this right here and let it marinade. There will be a war by Nov 24.
There will be no election. There will be lawfare. There will be red flags but most of all there will be emergency orders in place that will nullify constitutional rights. And the same spirit that possesses the Whitehouse today will be infesting the government then. And all we will get from so called Republicans that do get elected will be excuses for not arresting Pelosi, Biden Schiff and Schumer on federal rico charges, corruption, theft and murder will be excuses.

  40. As usual sir, you break it down and summarize the reality of the situation….

Sadly way too many words for the DimmiWit Voter, of which many will never read as they (and millions of illegally) cast ballots.

We Need Voter ID, Term Limits, and something similar to 250 years ago like tar & feathers.

No Violence necessary, we just need them gone from Political life for good and prosecuted for such.

  41. Not going to happen if Republican voters keep picking stupid candidates for the Senate. I mean, Dr Oz? Herschel Walker? Are you serious?

  42. Arnold Ray Bottoms

“All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.” said Thomas Jefferson . We have lost our and our Nation. We have been too long silent. The Left placed a person with the qualifications of Joe Biden into the Presidency in 2020. ‘People are not capable of self government.

  43. Yet their crimes continue precisely because they’re never held accountable, and therefore they expand their crimes exponentially. The crimes have now become obscene attacks upon our children. That must end legally or it will end through violences, that’s what history tells us. There has never been a day throughout the Democratic Party that they have not been mass murderers and that continues to this day.

  44. Frightened? Really? With all due respect and appreciation for your work, Professor Hansen, the Left does not appear to be frightened in the least. They look confident in their relentless attacks on America and emboldened by the inertia of the supposed opposition party. Your words, however eloquent and true,, are barely a thorn in their side. Very sad to see.

  45. Thank you Dr. Hanson!

Whether segments of the left are justifiably frightened of any serious opposition, they will respond thru their media warriors and the levers of the deep, administrative state.

Will the conservative opposition “lack the wherewithal, the brains, or the audacity” to emulate the left’s behavior? Or is there no worry anyone would dare do to them what they did to others?

Some of both, time will tell…perhaps they are frightened, and because of that, they will fight by any means necessary to keep their power.

  46. Your comments are incredibly detailed and extremely valid. I make just one request if the democrats are going to act as Marxists then shouldn’t they be called Marxists as they call all Republicans ‘racists’. It seems only fair!

  47. The only way any of this can be fix is if:
1.) Joe Biden is impeached of committing high crimes and misdemeanors, removed from the Presidency and then it must be decided if his age will keep him from jail time. If convicted these are all jailable offences.
2.) Then we have the illegal alien border crossings and all the illegal drugs that have crossed to border. Again, more crimes that Biden can be charged with, but he is not alone in this with Mayorkas standing by his side orchestrating all of it with guidance by whoever is really on his staff and running the country. Mayorkas should have charges brought against him, convicted with jail time and then the “birds will begin to sing” inside this administration about who was really behind all this. The VP was the Border Czar, so is she culpable as well.? Can impeachment be out of the questions for her as well?
3.) Can charges be brought on anyone in the Military for the Afghan debacle on the exit and lives lost; or all the American money just sent to Ukraine with no congressional approval? And now we can add the Iranian prisoner swap with $6 billion involved…for what reason is money involved with a equal prisoner swap????
4.) The other question to be answered is there anything that the Biden crime family would not do for $20-$30 million dollars run through 20+ shell-LLC? When you look at crime, the border, the total lack of criminal prosecution in our major cities, the action in Ukraine, and even all the crime in 2020.
