In this Friday news roundup, Victor Davis Hanson and co-host Sami Winc discuss the Karmelo Anthony murder conviction and reactions to it, arguing the facts were clear and contrasting it with past high-profile race narratives they call false. They also cover violent incidents involving immigrants, including an attempted beheading in Belfast, and claim public anger in the UK and U.S. is growing due to immigration, crime, and what they describe as a two-tier justice system and collapsing “critical legal theory” frameworks. Hanson criticizes prominent figures such as Cardi B and Jasmine Crockett for their comments, contends racial favoritism and DEI policies have fueled resentment, and says universities worsened racial relations. The episode also turns to California politics, alleging legalized vote-harvesting and lax election rules in Los Angeles races, and concludes with commentary on Democrat Senate candidate Graham Platner and praise for renovations to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Re: your comment on “Human Nature.” If we change our “Nature” then we are no longer “Human”! Being Human means we create and destroy cultures and we alter environments. We contain opposites like good and evil. Perhaps the wellspring of “Human Nature” runs too deep and soars to high to ever be understood. And now I wonder if Socrates’ statement “Know Yourself” applied to “I” as an individual or to “I” as a Human, or to “I” as both.
Thank you for remembering East Palestine
How could this end well?
Why carry a knife? Why not push or punch? No one gets killed in these situations, punishment is mild. Why stab someone in the chest? Poor anger management. Lack of consideration for the value of human life. Horrific.
All Karmelo Anthony had to do was leave the tent where he was not wanted (and asked to leave) once the rain ended. But Noooooo—he didn’t want to. So, now he will have 35 years to think about a bad decision which basically ended the futures of two young teenage lives. Moreover, two mothers and fathers lost a son.
In retrospect, what are the oddest things about this?
1) both boys were athletes with good grade point averages and no criminal records,
2) no fists were thrown,
3) no drugs were involved, and
4) nobody got shot.
This whole sad thing maxes out the “Dumbometer”!
Who taught Karmelo Anthony that deadly violence was a way to end an argument? Did his parents teach him? Was he defending himself from “whitey”? O.J. would have loved Crockett’s comment on a knife not being a deadly weapon…If He Did It. At least the Goldman family got the rights to the O.J. book. An entire subset of society suffering from psychosis. Fascinating.
Black (or minority) fatigue. It’s real, although I don’t know what the label is for Anthony’s family who takes the (absurd) $650,000 donated to GiveSendGo for Anthony’s legal representation, and buys a Cadillac Escalade and a $900,000 house in a white gated community, while not even appearing in court when Karmelo Anthony is being sentenced.
