Your analytical and managerial skills result in a high Angry Reader score: no detail or evidence to support your venom, plenty of profanity and crudity (crap, assholes, bullshit, ass, shit, Bitch, f——g, the neologisms (TRumphole), the strange vocabulary (defalcate [“embezzle”] for “defecate”), the usual misinformation (Hoover Institution, and general incoherence (“and I’d defalcate not in the street but in your so could spew more shit!”). All that earns an 8.5 on the Angry Reader scale. If your Angry Reader rant is a really the work of a former top CIA official, then perhaps it is valuable to readers in explaining the careers of some of its hierarchy such as John Brennan.
As for your argument, there is none. So I’ll quickly reply to the silliness. Newspapers select op-eds they purchase from syndicators to spark discussion. In some sense your rant is a form of discussion, so their intent was realized. I would imagine that if you went online and tabulated Hoover fellows’ campaign contributions there were more donors to the 2020 Biden than to the Trump campaign.
I’m not sure what you call “right-wing”; 15 years ago the Democratic Party advocated legal only and diverse, meritocratic, and measured immigration, but then again Obama himself ran in 2008 on secure borders, opposition to gay marriage, and a balanced budget. Please cite where I “attack immigrants.” Opposing illegal, massive, and non-diverse immigration is not an attack on “immigrants” but support for legal immigration. I imagine I live in an area with a far higher immigrant population, both legal and not, than in your own region.
While it is certainly true that red-states were more reluctant to impose complete lockdowns, you could at least try to make the argument that Florida and Texas fared far worse, case- and death-wise than locked down states like similarly sized New York—well aside from the greater economic, social, and cultural damage to New York than in Florida and Texas. But, of course, you cannot. I don’t see how the infection and lethality rates in Michigan, Massachusetts, or Connecticut are arguments for the blue-state, complete quarantine paradigm.
As far as vaccinating, there are two groups who so far show some resistance to it; one are conservative traditionalists who feel it impinges on their freedom or do not trust government assurances of safety. But the other are minority groups, especially African-Americans who likewise are statistically hesitant.
So there is no real political pattern here that you insinuate. I have always supported vaccination (and was vaxed the moment my age group was eligible), wearing masks where reasonable, and keeping a distance from others while indoors at the zenith of the epidemic. I wish BLM, Antifa, and LA Laker fan base had followed such guidelines when they violated all those protocols—ironically often supported by some health care officials who signed petitions claiming the protestors had good medical reasons to violate the quarantine leveled on all others.
Lots of Americans have immune challenges and health issues. They have good medical reasons not to be vaccinated. And the idea that we would reduce them to second-class citizenry is not feasible or desirable. The likelihood that herd immunity will be achieved with 80-85 percent of the population vaccinated or with antibodies will allow small populations with either medical or religious reasons to avoid vaccination not to pose an existential threat to others, especially when a new generation of pharmaceuticals are on the horizon that offer hope in rendering symptomatic COVID-19 to flu or cold status.

Regarding former CIA analyst and manager it seems he exhausted his thinking abilities while 'analyzing'. Having misplaced that critical skill, he got bumped up to manager. Now at his very highest level of incompitence, he has achieved a position of retirement that affords plenty of time to work on a stroke (sadly not golf). Chill.

I enjoyed your article "How Much Ruin Do We Have Left?" It was both broad and deep. I believe what is most important today, is the conflict between a so called, "pure democracy" and a constitutional republic. This is my take on what is happening now. While everyone is worried about votes and honest, fair elections, our freedoms are being destroyed. We will soon no longer be a constitutional republic. The Supreme Court not willing to hear a case regarding the right of state legislatures to enact state voting laws (which is written in the constitution) is a dereliction of their duty. This inaction of the Supreme Court, has negatively affected checks and balances and separation of powers. We are being censured, doxed, and denied platforms to express our views and opposition to what is going on. We do not need congress to pass laws for the right to disagree, or speak our minds, it is in the first amendment of our constitution. This right is inalienable, meaning we are born with it. Our government does not give us rights, it protects our rights. We are trading our constitutional republic for universal suffrage with no constitutional constraints. The left is using terms like “fairness”, “equality”, and “racism” to beat us into submission. The current progressive thinking is, if they stack the electorate with enough new voters to control congress and the presidency, pack the Supreme Court, make states out of DC and Puerto Rico, federalize election laws, eliminate voter id, use mail-in ballots and an extended voting period, they can do what they want. But guess what? They are right because we will no longer have a constitutional republic, but demagogues and tyrants using mobs to force their agenda on the rest of us. They have tainted our educational system (by playing the long game), our culture and our history. When the illegal aliens are legalized and given voting rights, the left will have all the power they need, to stick their agenda down our throats. Without an educated and informed citizenry, which is shrinking every year, we will lose our republic, lose our freedom and have tyranny imposed upon us.
I hope he is really a "former" CIA analyst and manager.
It's good to see repeated evidence to the breakdown of our federal institutions, like the CIA. It has long been suspected of its above-the-law behavior, criminally using its power against US citizens, like President Trump but also ordinary Joe Blow. Such displays, like those of Brennan and this jerk only confirm the need for oversight or dismantling. It is very disturbing to see the disrespect that this former servant of the US displays toward conservative citizens and thank you, Dr. Hanson, for posting this for all of us to see.

Do the unhinged, angry readers actually believe that their venom filled rantings convince anyone? I have yet to meet one person that has changed their thinking or even considered a different point of view because someone engaged in the vitriol promulgated by the left. But, maybe it isn't about changing hearts and minds anymore. I believe their strategy is all about shutting down anyone that disagrees with them and silencing their voices. They have already passed judgement on those that disagree with them. In their eyes, we are forever tainted and deserve nothing less than a reeducation camp. I am amazed at how quickly the national conversation has sunk to this low level.

Vic, I enjoy listening to your speak on the various shows like Hannity, Laura Ingraham and others. You have a way of making complex issues seem simple. You are obviously a much better writer and conveyor of thought than I. But I would like to share this recent experience while watching a movie. You have written many books, and I believe, even though this is just a movie and may not be steeped in actual facts, the basic foundations of the events in history surrounding this period of time are probably adequate enough to make my point. Maybe you can use this or some aspect of this to make a point on one of your interviews when speaking about our country and our future. I am sitting here watching the movie "Quo Vadis", which in latin means “Where are you going”. A good question to be asking ourselves these days, wouldn’t you agree? What similarities in this Hollywood movie to what is happening to our country today. The story of Nero, the arrogant ruler of Rome who burned down Rome and blamed the Christians so he could control “the mob”..the citizens of Rome. Our Rome is our Constitution, the basis for our country and for the freedoms of all people. Nero brought himself to power through evil and deceit, similar to how the current administration’s brought itself to power. But in the movie Nero, played by “Peter Ustinov” was not the person who designed and developed the plan to take over power. There were those behind the scenes. Those who would use and control Nero, their puppet, for their personal gains while distancing themselves from the guilt of their actions. Truly a definition of cowardice. Those who would change our way of life and place themselves in power, blaming the Christians, or in today’s case, the conservative movement, those who would sacrifice the Christians for destroying the country as today they would publically harass, convict and send to prison people such as General Flynn, Roger Stone, Carter Page, Papadopolous, and the many others up to and including some of the innocent people who participated in the protest at the Capital on January 6th. I found the movie and our lives today following similar paths and the irony is….it is a movie made by the very leftist liberals in this country who today are destroying our way of life. At the end of the movie, Marcus Vinicius played by Robert Taylor is having a discussion with a soldier of Rome. This after Nero is killed by the woman Poppaea, played by Patricia Laffan who was the controller of his life and of the events to maintain power. Galba, the new emperor of Rome is marching into the city; Marcus is standing alongside the Roman soldiers that supported him as they watch Galba enter the city of Rome. Marcus says to the soldier “Galba has a large task ahead of him; to rebuild Rome and bring back Roman justice. The soldier says “ I fear the glory that was Rome may never be fully reached again. Marcus responds “Babylon, Egypt, Greece, Rome….what follows?” The soldier responds “ A more permanent world I hope..with a more permanent faith.” Marcus finishes the conversation with “One is not possible without the other”. History seems to be repeating itself. When we look throughout history we see vast empires that have vanished from the face of the earth. Along with Babylon, Egypt Greece and Rome, there has been Persian Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the Japanese Empire, the Aztec, Mayan and countless others around the world. Is the United States of America next? Is there a common denominator in the fall of these Empires? In their quest for power and control, greed and a loss of morality become the impetus of those who would lead. When leaders begin to view themselves as omnipotent and God like, the moral values of humanity begin to vanish and the faith that would bind people together is undermined. The rule of law becomes the rule of the mob. To have a more permanent world, we need a more permanent faith. Not necessarily a religious faith, but faith in humanity…in the belief that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Until all people of the world see the value in these simple words, the road to peace and prosperity will be long and arduous. It just goes to show how profound the creators of the Declaration of the Independence were. Surely as the mob turned on the rulers of Rome, so too will the mob turn on this current leadership within the United States. We can learn from history….certainly we should learn…or we cannot blame anyone but ourselves for our own demise.

Dear Angry Reader Bill, Why is the rhetoric always prefaced with right-wing, left-wing, etc. Argue based on facts, not on emotion. Biden did not kick Trump's ass. Fact: swing-state governors, Secretaries of State, judges broke the law by violating Article 2, Section 1. Fact: Big tech colluded to assault/banish Trump in support of Biden. E.g. Google tailoring search results based on one's political bias. Fact: Trump Admin contracted with 6 pharma companies to produce 800M vaccines prior to FDA approval "GAO Report Feb 2021". The Admin was praised by Dr. Francis Collins, NIH Director, stating the event was historical. Biden did nothing. FACT: Biden was silent for the first two months of burning, looting, killing in major cities over 2020 summer resulting in devastation for the very community he pretends to "feel their pain". It takes character and integrity for one to acknowledge another who has accomplishments that have benefitted many irrespective of who/she is politically or otherwise. Those filled with such hatred and disdain should not be in Congress or any organization such as the FBI, CIA, etc who cannot fulfill their duty to the American people. And to have signed it, after saying such crude, venomous things shows the writer’s lack of character. I would be ashamed to pen such a letter, but needless to say, I wouldn’t dream of doing it. Notice Professor Hanson’s response—no rudeness whatsoever— showing class & character. I don’t even know what it was that got the writer so angry; I couldn’t make sense of it, but no matter. There is one very important and seemingly forgotten group that is avoiding the "vaccine" in droves and that is people who are healthcare professionals, nurses, doctors, chiropractors, naturopaths and others who actually work in the field! Maybe thats because we know more than the happy horseshit which our paid for "news mavens" are spewing about this inadequately tested human experiment in genetic engineering and dont relish the thought of possible death or terrible auto immune reactions months or years down the line as happened to the lab animals subjected to previous corona virus "experimental vaccines" over thevlast 20 years! From what I have read the percentage is well over 60% of nurses and others.. in fact the vaccine was not even necessary given the number of safe and effective cures available! I'm a 73 year old combat vet (Vietnam) and Mr. McMaster frightens me. I suspect a history of drug and mental issues. I'm also an NRA and pro 2A person yet find the idea of Mr. McMaster being able to own a firearm troubling. I'm a native Californian and I want my state back. Love the way you handle angry readers.

I very much enjoy your books, essays and opinion pieces., the latest example was no exception. I too live on a farm (albeit a small one). Perhaps there is something to be said for clean air and the daily chores around the property to help keep people well grounded. Thank you and kind regards from a reader down under.
