Of course, sometimes they used to do that—if only selectively. There were Communist sympathizers in the Roosevelt Administration and holdovers in the 1950s deep state. But the Red Peril was not always what the demagogic Joe McCarthy claimed when shaking his lengthy, indiscriminate “lists” of “commie” names and crimes.

You mention human nature on occasion. Your famous for saying “human nature doesn’t change over time or distance”. Lying is part of human nature and in fact people lie 2 to 3 times in a ten minute conversation. Pathological liars believe their own lies and have about 25% more white matter in their pre frontal cortex along with 14% less gray matter overall than normal. The reasons, physical and physiological changes that occur when someone lies are not germane to this reply. I’m eleven years older than you, and I am very familiar with the life and works of Edward R. Murrow. I’ve admired him most of my life. As I recall from my personal experience and research, it was the ire of Ike that dealt the death blow to Joe McCarthy after Murrow pummeled Joe. We have a oligarchical press that will persist for quite some time, in my opinion. It’s something we have to endure while we work against it. Good luck to us all.
This guy is full of crap about Senator Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy was vilified because he was revealing the identities of those behind the Communist movement in America: i.e. Union leaders; bankers; Congressmen, et cetera. McCarthy became too good at his assignment. Surely Hanson knows this: why is he spreading this crap?!
