The Classicist: Winds, Whirlwinds, and Coup Porn

In this episode Victor Davis Hanson and cohost Jack Fowler explain the compromise of military excellence due to the Left’s agenda, the Left consumed by its own policies, and COVID idleness destroying our social fabric. They conclude with a look at VDH’s recklessness.

  1. FYI? several months ago I received VDH posts nearly daily
(and enjoyed each and every) but then they suddenly vanished.
    Stopped appearing.
So I went to the site and attempted to sign up.
I believe I received a confirmation that I had signed up but
nothing ever followed. I was convinced that VDH had been canceled,
as predicted by one astute reader who printed out and saved a copy
of every piece by VDH (I had been doing the same).
Now with the new year I have rec’d 3 VDH posts to date. Hallelujah.
Neither shadow banning nor canceling could prevent the truth
from coming to light. The devil knows his time is short–

  2. I am very impressed with you, and have been for many years. Its nice to see someone who has’nt lost their mind. I hope to meet you some time. I have informed my 20 year old son, about you.
He is a very bright young man. He now follows you.

    All my best

  3. Please consider making a transcript available of Dr VDH remarks. Easier to read quickly without having to wade through audio. Best Peter Huessy president Geostrategic Analysis Potomac Maryland and Senior Defense Fellow, The Hudson Institute

  4. Always informative. Mass Formation keeps rational people from being sensible and militates against problem solving.
The English and Colonists in 1775. The North and South in 1860 and all the opposing forces in 1941.

Not to take you away from the history of today, but it appears many of us have been duped for years. I’m reading Coup In Dallas -T he Decisive Investigation into Who Killed JFK by H.P. Albarelli, Jr. and find it compellingly factual. I had always been suspicious of the Warren Reports and felt they were nothing but a cover-up of several credible facts that emerged during 1964 and going long into the next 3 or 4 decades. This book serves as testimony to some of those facts. Whether or not we can get definitive proof (which I feel is there) to determine this 2020 election was a farce, this book is a background for how it has always been entrenched . A coup was being gathered long before President Donald Trump announced his desire to become President. It was foiled by a few who knew the uglness of the Clintons would emerge. The destruction of the emails was part of it and sadly, we will probably never know the contents of just how ugly they are. Epsteins’ little black book may still be the answer if Gshlaine will divulge. As a devotee to listening and watching Mr. Hanson on the Ingraham program and reading the passages from several of his podcasts, I hope this will be a window of opportunity for him to read this research that borders on eliminating the FBI, CIA, et al in large portions. J Edgar’s FBI was a dumping ground for lies. Sorry you are associated with an institution named for such a poor piece of humanity. Thank you for allowing me to sound off.

  6. As far as learning through pain goes, I always say that you can tell some kids not to touch the stove, because it’s hot. But some won’t learn until they touch it.

As you know far better than I, a huge part of our success in WW2 was due to our Gen Marshal. He cleaned out the deadwood at the beginning and put in the meritocracy system we used through out. We have a military animal today that obviously dwarves the size, complexities and problems of yesteryear. My question is: Do we have a potential General Marshal today that has the astute judgement and strength of character required to sort things out – assuming a political will to do so. I do not need name(s), just a yes or no will suffice.
I can find no basis for faith, but you have vastly more knowledge than I.

  8. Listening to ‘Winds, Whirlwinds, etc.’ when it suddenly went silent. Is there a technical problem? Can it be read rather than heard. Either way I would like to complete the comments.

VDH’s anecdote about his father’s action in a B-29 bomb bay evoked an image of Slim Pickens acting similarly in ‘Dr. Strangelove’. Though I’m sure it was no laughing matter at the time, I had to smile at the comparison.

  11. I am one of those 50 somethings who plan to exit the work force earlier than expected from the best-paying job I’ve ever held.
    My reasoning is simple.
I refuse to be busy at my desk working when the race gestapo comes.
I refuse to subject myself to race propaganda as a condition of employment.
I refuse to justify my existence to an ecclesiastical race court.
And far be it from me to compare my grasp of history to yours, but one thing I’ve learned is that given sufficient incentives, people are capable of anything.
A corollary to that observation is that it’s better to leave a bad situation a year too early than a day too late.

  12. USA gets better if it gets healthcare under control – out of the hands of big pharma, HMOs and corrupt pols ?

So if I said that “most chronic diseases result from injuries to autonomic nerves (see Wiki) caused by coordinate, and incoordinate, straining on the toilet (30-40% population)” then prevention is self-evident ? Better diets & bowel habits ! It starts with eggs and grits at a southern breakfast ?

VDH, like a beacon of hope, has risen from the dark halls of academia to enlighten and teach a struggling mass trying to make sense of totalitarian, globalist ideology that is threatening to strangle our democratic republic…not as trendy as Rush, but Victor’s product should be mandatory curriculum for every citizen..Yorba Linda and beyond 👍🏼

  15. Let’s get started.

Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.
    The meaning.
    Take a look.
This also reminds me of a precept by Sir Edwin Sandys, a politician who helped establish Jamestown, Virginia.
One of his most notable is, An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
search bar with “what use aphorism.” written
Pick an aphorism that relates to your message and use it to stay focused on your overarching theme.
An aphorism is a literary device that uses a short, clever saying to express a general truth.
Proverbs, on the other hand, can be much longer than aphorisms and adages.
    So what do you do.
Michael Corleone from The Godfather II disagreed with that.
Sandys said, Honestie the best policie, which in modern English is…
Shifting gears a little, let’s talk about one of the world’s greatest aphorists – Benjamin Franklin.
    But these days.
