Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Ukraine has ossified into something like the modern version of the horrific Battle of Verdun, fought 108 years ago on the 1916 Western Front of World War I. That meat grinder cost France and Germany some 700,000 dead and wounded. The nightmare ended ten months later, after the heroic French… Continue reading The Ukrainian Verdun
The Strange Disconnect Between Israel and Ukraine
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The Ukrainian and Israeli wars are similar and yet also different conflicts—but in more ways than we can imagine. Ukraine was invaded by a huge Russian state, with a population three-and-a-half times greater, a gross national product ten times larger, and an area thirty times its size. Hamas, by contrast,… Continue reading The Strange Disconnect Between Israel and Ukraine
We Are Well Beyond Hypocrisy
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The abject narcissism of the insular Left is startling. They apparently believe the American public is amnesiac enough to forget what leftists once did, now that they’re doing the utter opposite. And they assume we are to discount their hypocrisy and self-absorption simply because they self-identify as erudite and moral… Continue reading We Are Well Beyond Hypocrisy
Our Post-Hamas Wreckage
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness As Hamas goes, so with it go many of the following related Western pretensions. The Passions of 9/11, Redux It has been 22 years since we saw crowds throughout the Middle East celebrating the murder of 3,000 civilians—and since newspapers had daily “idiot watch” notices of American intellectuals defending radical… Continue reading Our Post-Hamas Wreckage
Reflections on Israel’s New Existential War
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness There have been plenty of terrorist attacks on Israel. A dozen or so conventional wars of various magnitude have been waged against the Jewish state. And more often there have been mixtures of both. Yet never have hundreds of gangs of black-clad murderers carefully planned to swarm Israel, with an… Continue reading Reflections on Israel’s New Existential War
The Ukrainian Gordian Knot
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Most Americans understandably favor the Ukrainian resistance against Vladimir Putin’s Russian naked 2022 aggression. Yet for Ukraine to break the current deadlock—our generation’s Verdun with perhaps 600,000 combined casualties so far— and “win” the war, it apparently must have the military wherewithal to hit targets inside Russia. Such strategically logical attacks might… Continue reading The Ukrainian Gordian Knot

Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The strategies of saving the Biden presidency from an impeachment and a Senate trial despite overwhelming evidence of his corruption are starting to emerge. The Family is confronted with damning evidence from the laptop, from the testimonies of Hunter’s business associates Bobulinksi and Archer, from Ukrainian oligarchs and Viktor Shokin,… Continue reading How Biden Will Circle the Wagons?
The Frightened Left
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness An impeachment inquiry looms and the shrieks of outrage are beginning. The Left is now suddenly voicing warnings that those who recently undermined the system could be targeted by their own legacies. So, for example, now we read why impeachment is suddenly a dangerous gambit. True, the Founders did not… Continue reading The Frightened Left
The Biden Clan’s Con Is Coming to an End
Despite years of Biden family and media disinformation, we are finally learning that Joe Biden really did fire Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin for looking into state corruption involving the oil company Burisma and Hunter Biden—and ultimately Joe Biden himself. As Vice President, Biden, in his own words, bragged that he had threatened to cancel the… Continue reading The Biden Clan’s Con Is Coming to an End
Biden Abroad: The Moral and Material Collapse of U.S. Foreign Policy
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The American post-Cold War order from the Ronald Reagan through George W. Bush administration is over. Barack Obama began its erosion with his tired lectures about the past sins of the United States. Obama empowered radical Islamists. He invited Russia back into the Middle East after a forty-year hiatus. He… Continue reading Biden Abroad: The Moral and Material Collapse of U.S. Foreign Policy
