Victor Davis Hanson // American Greatness
Washington’s self-righteous establishmentarians talk of professionalism when they act unprofessionally. They refer at length to their intellectual and professional pedigrees when they prove incompetent. And they cite their morality and ethics when they possess neither.
And then, adding insult to injury, when the public expresses abhorrence at their behavior, they accuse critics of unprofessionalism, a lack of patriotism, or reckless demagoguery.
A James Clapper can lie to Congress under oath about intelligence surveillance of U.S. citizens; a John Brennan can lie about CIA monitoring of U.S. Senate computers, or mislead Congress about the absence of any collateral damage in the use of drones. Yet we are supposed to give both further credence based on their emeriti titles or to believe their current Captain Renault-like outrage over President Trump’s lack of presidential decorum? But what in their past has earned them the moral high ground?

Another crystal clear analysis of a Washington environment that more and more resembles the corruption of the late Roman Senate. The point made of the destruction of judicial integrity is both illuminating and appalling. The corruption of the DOJ was an eight year process under Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch. The Justice Department became a unit to settle old political scores and left wing programs on race and authority in the United States. The FBI has been complicit in this vice warning against it. Political patronage replaced respect for and equality under the law. VDH is correct in regretting that this bell can not be unrung while the memory of recent events exist. Unfortunately, I believe good men will do nothing and evil will have triumphed. Respectfully, J. Mauffray
Brennan and Clapper.............blank, blank.
Thank you Mr. Hanson. As always you're spot on about the swamp dwellers and their dillusional, criminal behavior. Here in Colorado, Representative Doug Lamborn just got kicked off of the Primary ballot for having too many invaid petition signatures, 30% or so were deemed invalid . He was too arrogant to stand up at the recent assembly and speak directly to delegates, his constituents. He may end up self-term limiting ! He always said he supported term limits, even while running for his 7th term ! A Gubernatorial candidate recently pulled his own petitions for the same reason and successfully campaigned at the assembly. Are there reasons for the utter lack of indictments from AG Sessions after all of the purported evidence against the DNC and Clinton/ Wasserman/ Lynch/ Rice, etc crime family ? Thanks for all you bring to light. P.S. when I queried Rep. Lamborn about the continuing radiation coming from Japanes nuke plant, I was informed that it's classified info ! No daylight there.
I worked at Caltech, so I know how meaningless letters are. Caltech manages JPL. Ethics was not a strong suit there. There are some excellent scientists and engineers there, but the bad ones outnumber them. Caltech doesn't care as long as they get their management fees. Plagiarism is excused and thereby facilitated. Patriotism is another word for lemming. Americans watch too much TV. WWII movies are just an indoctrination for little minds from little minds. About PhDs, I would like to address your idea that we should allow people to immigrate here based on merit. There are problems with that. If they are professionals, then there is a moral issue of taking them from the country that facilitated their education for a reason. Who is qualified to vet them? University College London PhDs for instance wouldn't qualify for a MS here and yet, they come as postdocs or Resident Research Associates paid for by The National Science Foundation. Caltech ends up sponsoring them for their green cards and gives them a salary that exceeds the value of their contribution substantially. Doctors from India? The Indian government itself said that its medical schools are awful. Even so, they live in a profoundly underserved country which they have turned their backs on. They are driving down the compensation of domestic graduates that the domestic graduates can't even pay their school loans with the salaries they earn.
