Obama’s Utterly Hypocritical Response to Trump’s Criticisms of His Record

by Victor Davis Hanson // NRO – The Corner

Obama-Budget-Plan-jpgPresident Obama just said this about Donald Trump’s disparagement of the last seven years: “In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible.” Presidential candidates “don’t seem to offer many solutions for the disasters that they perceive, but they’re quick to tell you who to blame . . . I’m here to say there’s nothing particularly patriotic or American about talking down America, especially when we stand as one of the few sources of economic strength in the world.” In 2008 candidate Obama, then in Trump’s current contender position, said this about a lame-duck sitting president, while more or less kept talking down both America and its then-current government for most of the campaign: The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion for the first 42 presidents — No. 43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child. That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic. In Obama’s world, when you attack a sitting president, you do so on grounds that he is unpatriotic; when you are a sitting president you defend yourself from those who do what you did, also on grounds they are unpatriotic. In Obama’s alternate universe, adding $4 trillion is unpatriotic and irresponsible, but adding $9 trillion “by his lonesome” is exactly what? And if Obama as a senator voted to shut down the government over that accruing $4 trillion, what should do the Senate do about double that amount?

  1. I can’t figure out if this guy is extremely myopic, isolated by his staff in the Potemkin Village manner or just an ignorant, self indulgent egomaniac.
Maybe he thinks we’re all like the college students you see interviewed on TV who don’t know who the Vice President is.
It could be that he just doesn’t care what anyone but Barrack Obama thinks.

  2. When one weakens a country with crippling debt, weakens its military while allowing its enemies to strengthen, weakens its control of its own borders, creates new and potent strifes and divisions among its citizens, and hides the records of his past, that one is certainly not unpatriotic but rather a purposeful traitor.

  3. Pull the troops out of Iraq——- Now, the power the world with oil, Middle-East is transforming into something the West will have to respond to——-Or, if the waiting game is miscalculated……………………………………….??? Turkey is under immense pressure, and at odds with Russian/Iranian colony Syria. What is Obama’s response if Russia continue’s to build-up its military in Syria? Russia/China are under growing economic pressure——–Iran is riding-high having defeated the “Great Satan.” Growing turmoil within a divided E.U. and USA, uncertain elections are near, and yet light-years away. “What a tangled web we weave.”

  4. Obama’s already infamous legacy is not the result of incompetence, but of a purposeful agenda to undermine the U.S. through abusing his constitutional powers, creating an unconscionable debt, single-handedly destabilizing pretty much the entire middle east, opening our borders, exacerbating racial conflict, neutering our military, and strengthening Islam as he turns his back on Israel. He is America’s Ephialtes.

“In the echo chamber that is presidential politics, everything is dark and everything is terrible.”
    — President Obama unwittingly describes his own administration.

  6. I believe Obama is the most evil president that I have ever seen.I fear for the future of my country. I also fear for my children and grandchildren. They are so blinded by his many speeches. He is powerful and persuasive with his ways of reaching the young. Thank you.

  7. If the markets are retesting their Tech Wreck and Housing Bubble lows while Obama is still in office, given his present poll numbers, he may end up as the most unpopular sitting president in history. If we retest them before the primaries next summer, it will likely punch Trump’s wildcard ticket into the Oval Office.

The charts don’t look good, for either the dollar or for equities. A combination which is not only counterintuitive, it is downright scary. If they go over the cliff together, it will be a national disaster. One that we may find ourselves in the midst of so fast that it spins the heads of even the most gloomy perma-bears.

Normally history grinds slowly, but debt crises are an exception because of the nature of exponential growth. No matter how low the rate, the growth eventually goes parabolic, just like in the old wheat and chessboard experiment. The problem is, parabolas cannot exist in the real world for very long.

The federal debt is an instructive example. During Bushes term it almost doubled from $5 to $9 trillion, now during Obama’s it has doubled again from $9 to $18. What cannot be sustained will not continue, simple as that.

  8. Obama as a senator was a God-King in the making.

He could do no wrong then, and, standing fully revealed as our God-King now, He can do no wrong ever, even unto the end of time.

    Like it or lump it.

And let us sing: “Obama Malkheinu . . .”
