The cycle repeats because human nature does not change. It is not basically good. At best, it’s neutral. We must learn, each generation, to overcome our nature, to resist temptations like the ones that prosperity present. And that is difficult. It is easy to succumb to luxury. It feels good. And we are living right now in a time in which the message to do whatever you want, when you want, is an ideal to pursue. For 70 years.
Human nature does not change, and woe to those who do not see this, or who willfully deny it.

  2. Having felt for years that we’re victims of our own prosperity, I find it encouraging when Victor points out that societal behavior is cyclical in nature and that we might now be experiencing a revival of traditional values. Perhaps, we finally have reached a turning point with a return to common sense, decency & spiritual guidance in our behavior.
