Several years ago I started with Herodotus and went forward (Xenophon, Plutarch, Thucydides, Peter Green's tome on the Hellenistic period, etc.). I was up to Suetonius when I read and heard your thoughts on these parallels between our present decadence and the first century AD in Rome. I have a question/request. I want to read something in between Suetonius and then all of Gibbon. I already plan to read Marcus Aurelius and I've already read Epictetus (around seven times). So specifically, what are the best sources for reading about that hundred year period that includes Hadrian, etc.? Thank you. (I listen to your podcast assiduously and already plan to read your book about Epaminondas and the other two liberators.)
