Reading the first chapters of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘯 and enjoying it so far. I found it at the local library shelved next to a book about how “white supremacists oppress immigrants” authored by recent emigree from Algeria. Per usual the books were flying off the racks into the hands of eager borrowers… Even for the time of day the building was packed with mostly children with mothers and the elderly retirees. Plexiglass barricades at the automated checkout, no interpersonal interaction required by staff or patron; advertisements for recommended masking, with several seemingly healthy young people still wearing coverings… How many VOTERS will read all these books? Who will seek them out? Who’s going to have time to read these books – if they can afford to go to the library with exorbitant fuel costs – if they have schedule conflicts with work hours and they can’t have any time visiting the library?
