with your premise that a marriage between physical work and abstract thinking is likely the reason we have been successful as a species. I am primarily a biologist by training and have recently retired after 50 years of teaching. However, I have also been a florist, a landscaper, a house painter, a roofer and a backhoe operator. There is nothing quite as exhilarating as operating a backhoe on a job that has to be finished when the weather is 32F and raining or wondering if your coworker installed the roof jack below you properly. I believe these experiences are synergistic and I appreciate, through your discourse, that the ancients did too. Please stay well and stay working.

Growing up and going on family road trips we were told if you are stuck on the road during bad weather with snow or rain that it is best to follow a trucker because they have the best road instincts and driving skills.
