Will Trump Hit Iran?

In this Friday news roundup, Victor Davis Hanson and co-host Sami Winc discuss Iran’s military capabilities, the political implications of U.S. involvement with Israel’s attack on Iran, Obama’s stated agenda to transform America, the role of universities in cultural decay, positive changes in crime rates and immigration, the impact of self-deportation on the American workforce, and Democrats avoiding the hearings on the mental state of Joe Biden.

  1. Josef,

I believe AMAC founder Bobby Charles is running for Maine governor in 2026. Electing him would be a good start.

I can fully empathize with what your daughter is going through. No nurse or any other middle-class American should have to pay out the nose in rent because they can’t afford a home. The difference in wealth between renters and homeowners is considerable. I bought a condo in 2018, my first home. I had been renting before this and shelling out half of my net income every month. In 2022 I got married and sold it, walking away with $140k tax free. There is no way I could have made that kind of money in the stock market (unless, of course, I was Hillary Clinton 😂). My mortgage payment was fixed and had been $700 less than I was paying in rent. We don’t want to repeat the 2008 mortgage meltdown, but the sooner someone can get into a home and start the equity ball rolling, the better.

  2. I live in South Portland Portland Maine and we have had a large influx of so called refugees from Africa, they are living in houses, driving nice cars and at Whole Foods I see some kind of delivery service by Africans filling up their cars full of food for somebody and you know Whole Foods is very expensive. My point is yesterday I had CT and I was speaking with a young tech she and her husband cannot buy a house so they are living with their in-laws. My daughter went to college twice paid for tuition to become a nurse wants to buy a house but she cannot afford one and instead paying 2,000 plus for a tiny apartment in Hawaii. It took me 13 years to be able to buy a house and I drive a little KIa. How in the world can someone from Africa with no credit history whatsoever get into a house or new apartments and drive a nicer car than mine. I am originally from another country but became an American a few years ago no one helped me yet I see such actions going on here and you know what Portland Maine has a horrible homeless situation where is the help for them?

  3. Obama, Over 100 Billion to Iran. Self hating Moolaatoe closet case, Muslim.. one of the worst of all time. Trump, the master of the deal. The adults are in charge again ● Israel saving Western Civ. again. What else is new? No Iranian Nukes. Destroy The Theocratic Totalitarian Death Cult. Cut the Snake’s head off. Destroy the Nuclear Apocalyptic Genocidal Suicidal Muslim religious fanatics. Save Western Civ. God Speed.

  4. Victor,

You mentioned that the Japanese may have agreed to peace terms after the loss of Iwo Jima. I was wondering why you think that given their bellicose philosophy?

I’m certainly no historian, so I’m not saying you’re wrong. Just would like to learn more on this subject. In Ken Burns’ WW2 documentary he compared and contrasted the Germans and the Japanese. According to experts in his documentary, the Germans, although they had fanatical elements in the SS, would generally surrender if the situation was hopeless. For example at Stalingrad. But for the Japanese, surrender was dishonorable and, ergo, unthinkable. It was in direct contradiction to their Bushi warrior code. This code also explains their barbaric treatment of Allied POWs and Chinese civilians. At Iwo Jima, regular Japanese soldiers without ammo and hiding in their subterranean bunkers blew themselves up rather than surrender to their enemy. Others jumped off cliffs. And of course there were the Kamikaze pilots. According to a Time magazine online article by Ian W. Toll titled An Attempted Coup Tried to Stop Japan’s Surrender in World War Two. Here’s How it Failed and dated 11th August 2020, a small cabal inside the Japanese military had attempted to assassinate Emperor Hirohito on 14th August 1945 in order to prevent Japan’s surrender. At this time the Japanese people believed Hirohito was actually a god, so to try to murder him in order to prevent Japan’s surrender is quite remarkable.

  5. Victor,
I agree about the Trumps cashing in on these various ventures, be it the son-in-law’s Saudi-backed investment fund following the Abraham Accords, Eric’s cryptocurrency business interests & Trump mobile phone company, now Don Jr.’s private D.C. club with a $500,000 membership fee. Trump simply opens himself up to more litigation in terms of conflicts of influence & influence-peddling with the potential to thwart his counter cultural revolution.
Conversely, Truth Social was justified after the censorship of other social media platforms, and it serves a valuable public purpose. As well, I applaud people’s success in the private sector, but I thought the Trumps made their fortune through their commercial real estate expertise. It seems they feel they have nothing to lose with these ventures when compared to the Biden family’s corrupt, if not criminal, behavior. Get it while the going’s good.
