Wheeling and Dealing in Europe and at Home

Listen to the Friday news roundup with Victor Davis Hanson and his cohost Sami Winc: peace deal in Ukraine, China and Russia mineral rights in Bolivia, German elections more left than right, Dan Bongino deputy director of the FBI, Comey’s “honeypot” operation, Tulsi Gabbard’s wayward employees, covid scams and conflicts of interest, and self-righteous but not self-conscious Maddow.

The undeniable fool Buttigieg was mayor of South Bend not Indianapolis. Only 100k people and he ran it into the ground. Indy is 750k + I think.

Professor Hanson, thank you for remembering East Palestine. Prior to the Great Train Wreck, our only claim to fame was that Bob Hope made his first vaudeville appearance in East Palestine. Now, however, with every one waiting on money from Norfolk Western, we are reduced to reminding each other not to spend the money until the check clears.

This is as much a question as a comment. When people told me that black people built America, i always asked them how many blacks, enslaved or free, took part in THE seminal economic project in America; the building and operation of the Erie Canal. I suggest that that canal made it profitable to inhabit and farm/manufacture the Ohio River Valley since you could now get your products to New York City/port. Farms/manufacturers moved down the Ohio River Valley to the Mississippi, and then north/south on that river.
What say you to that suggestion?

  4. At least twice now, I have heard you say that Pete Buttigieg was mayor of Indianapolis. I am sure that you misspoke, as I am sure that you know that he was mayor of South Bend, Indiana.
