I think that the decline of the Renaissance Man (or woman) is a by-product of our cultural value that venerates The Expert. That value was introduced by progressivism, which believes in the supremacy of The Expert. In the pursuit of expertise, we focus on one thing and ignore everything else. We teach kids to do this. We discourage the kind of free-flowing curiosity that makes someone a renaissance person.
Another by-product of Expertism is a decline in wisdom. Experts know things, but that doesn’t make them wise. In fact, it tend to make them foolish in their tunnel vision.

  2. On 3 October the Renaissance Man, Kristofferson, endorsed Kamala Harris for President. Did this genius not know the meaning and effect of a Harris presidency on Americans, world affairs? Or is it what he desired?

I was unaware K.k. endorsed Harris. This is so disheartening to me. He was very ill at the time., makes me wonder.
