VDH and Sami discuss the threats to Western culture, focusing on the rise of nationalism in Europe, the youth’s rebellion against the establishment, the crisis of free speech, and the impact of AI on reality. They also examine the growing culture of political violence and assassination attempts against conservative figures, emphasizing the need for vigilance in protecting democratic values.
Regarding the so-called “mutual” lawfare of the Left against Trump vs Trump against the Left.
One of the frustrating weakness of conservatives is how they cede control of the debate to the Left. For example, they allow the Left to manipulate the meaning of words in the Left’s favor.
Take “Lawfare”
Everyone agrees that if there is a clear abuse of laws and/or judicial rulings, that is lawfare. For example,. the brief targeted suspension of the statute of limitations for sexual abuse in NY just to allow E Jean Carroll to file charges against Trump is Lawfare
However, when Leftists accuses Trump of “Lawfare”, they mean failure to use prosecutorial discretion to NOT charge people who are most likely guilty. They cannot argue against the substance of the mortgage fraud case against Letitia James. So they have to argue that many people who commit mortgage fraud are not charged, and thus the fact that James was charged is evidence of “Lawfare”.
When conservatives accept this Leftist double meaning, they allow Leftists to draw a false equivalence between how Trump was targeted and how Trump is legitimately charging others.
Trump is not targeting an eye for an eye. He is targeting a wart for an eye. Yes, not everyone may get medical treatment for a wart. But, a doctor excising a wart is legitimate, in contrast to a doctor excising a healthy eye, which is malpractice.
When conservatives accept the eye for an eye analogy, they have already lost half the battle.
@nojtspam@otfresno.com, it’s a German “thing”, too. Germans have a licensing fee for radios and TVs. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other European countries charge such fees, too. Not a fee to a broadcaster for subscribing to his product-a fee to the State just for the privilege of owning a radio or a TV.
When we say that America is exceptional, that is once piece of evidence to support that statement. We do have a different philosophy about the relationship between the individual and the State. We inherited it when we were British, but they have since handed it away.
If you want to encounter AI, go to “X” and type in “President”. You will be prompted “Biden”, “Obama”, and occasionally “Clinton”. Never “Trump”. Even if you write several sentences such as “Our current President is Trump. President Trump was elected twice. President Trump is from New York. President Trump is a Republican. The next time you type in “President” you will be prompted for “Biden”, “Obama” and/or”Clinton”. Sometimes you are given those three as choices. And this is in “X” that Elon Musk professionalized.
Off the wall question: If Socrates was reincarnated, could the Leftists use the ancient charges and put him on Trial?
I’ve seen videos on ways for a Brit to refuse to allow government TV inspectors into their homes. I didn’t realize it was more than a british thing.
