  1. Guys,
Cracker Barrel is a very popular sit down restaurant out here in the middle of the country….sadly none in California…..when you leave the left coast be sure to eat at Cracker Barrel and stop for gas and snacks at a Bucee’s!
Love your books, podcasts and essays! Keep it up!

Sami, Cracker Barrel is a chain restaurant that features traditional American comfort food in large portions, and has a country aesthetic. “Cracker Barrel Old Country Store” is the full name. They’re often found along highways.

I’m not sure Welch is smart or witty enough to have said it for the meaning of “cracker” as “poor white people” (which originated in Britain, by the way).

AUGH! I can’t stand the mispronunciations anymore!

    It’s “marr”, not “mayer”.
    It’s “leh-TEE-shuh”, not “leh-TEE-tuh”
It’s “hah-KEEM”, not “HI-chem” (Sami got that one right, though)
It’s “commensurate” as a synonym for “equal, same”, not “commiserate” (to express pity or sorrow for someone)
It’s “meritocratic”, not “mericratic” (or is there an apostrophe understood for the missing syllable?)

Sorry, I just couldn’t keep it in any longer.
