Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness It is “Trump Will Destroy Democracy” season again. And predictably the Left has gone hysterical, after experiencing a trifecta of frightening 2024 news. One, current polls in the primaries and in a general election for now show that Trump would win. Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s popularity dives below 40 percent. His policies… Continue reading Not ‘Trump the Dictator’ Again
How Biden Will Circle the Wagons?
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The strategies of saving the Biden presidency from an impeachment and a Senate trial despite overwhelming evidence of his corruption are starting to emerge. The Family is confronted with damning evidence from the laptop, from the testimonies of Hunter’s business associates Bobulinksi and Archer, from Ukrainian oligarchs and Viktor Shokin,… Continue reading How Biden Will Circle the Wagons?
The Frightened Left
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness An impeachment inquiry looms and the shrieks of outrage are beginning. The Left is now suddenly voicing warnings that those who recently undermined the system could be targeted by their own legacies. So, for example, now we read why impeachment is suddenly a dangerous gambit. True, the Founders did not… Continue reading The Frightened Left
Save the Rule of Law By Destroying It?
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Some truths are so staggering in their ramifications that Americans simply shrug and tune them out as if strangers in a strange land. Is their current bewilderment because modernist America is unrecognizable —a nonexistent border, downtown homeless juxtaposed to hipster professional elites, DEI racial essentialism, cities reverting to precivilizational wastelands,… Continue reading Save the Rule of Law By Destroying It?
Joe Biden’s Race Against the Truth
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Joe Biden has about 17 months left as an elected politician—if he is lucky. That projection guides most of the inexplicable and shameless behavior of the Department of Justice and Biden himself. View Biden as in a race against the truth. Will he be physically and mentally able to complete… Continue reading Joe Biden’s Race Against the Truth
Two Sets of Laws for Two Americas
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Two sets of laws now operate in an increasingly unrecognizable America. Consider the matter of unlawfully removing and storing classified papers. Donald Trump may go to prison for removing contested White House files to his home. So far Joe Biden seems exempt from just such legal jeopardy. But as a… Continue reading Two Sets of Laws for Two Americas
The Biden Presidency Is Unsustainable
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Imagine if Gavin Newsom was currently Vice President amid the final meltdown of the Biden family consortium. Does anyone doubt that Biden would then either be forced to resign by Democratic politicos (for reasons in addition to his escalating dementia), or would be impeached and perhaps abdicate Nixon-style? The presence… Continue reading The Biden Presidency Is Unsustainable
The Wild 2024 Race
Current polls, pundits, and politicos insist that the 2024 race is a sure rematch between former President Donald Trump and incumbent President Joe Biden. It may well turn out that way. But in past election cycles, summer polls 15 months before the general election usually did not mean much. In December 2003, the CBS poll… Continue reading The Wild 2024 Race
The Crazy Contours of the Crazier 2024 Election
We start with the likely American landscape over the next two years. Joe Biden has no choice but to focus on a purely negative message. So we already know his talking points for the next 18 months: “ultra MAGA” demons, “semi-fascist” insurrectionists, Trump!, Trump!, Trump!, and more Trump!, murdering fellow Americans by putting limits on partial-birth and… Continue reading The Crazy Contours of the Crazier 2024 Election
Does Trump Really Want to Be President Again?
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Team Trump has sometimes compared Donald Trump’s current quest for a nonsequential second term to two-term President Grover Cleveland’s similar three election bids. Cleveland remains our only elected (1884) president to have lost a reelection bid (1888)—in a disputed vote—only to be reelected four years later (1892). Yet Trump seems… Continue reading Does Trump Really Want to Be President Again?
