Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Trump’s greatest achievement within six months was simply ending illegal immigration as we had once known it—without “comprehensive immigration reform” or any other rhetorical trickery. It remains difficult to find, much less deport, the 10 to 12 million illegal aliens who entered in the last four years. Those who helped… Continue reading Trump Astride at Seven Months
What Made the Democratic Party Go Crazy?
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The answer was not Trump alone. Indeed, irony abounds when Democrats resonate with the claims of the vestigial Never Trumpers that the MAGA movement “hijacked” the Republican Party. In characteristic projectionist fashion, the left is simply falsely attributing to their opposition the very hijacking that hit the Democratic Party. The… Continue reading What Made the Democratic Party Go Crazy?
What Is the Democrat Alternative to Trump?
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The Pavlovian Left goes berserk at the mere prospect of each new Trump initiative. Its escalating reactive venom and hysteria are calibrated to the success of Trump’s latest policy. Yet the new hard-left Democratic Party offers no counter-agenda to explain its furor. Still less do Democrats attempt bipartisan efforts to… Continue reading What Is the Democrat Alternative to Trump?
Who Has Been Busy Destroying Democracy?
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness “Destroying democracy”—the latest theme of the left—can be defined in many different ways. How about attempting to destroy constitutional, ancient, and hallowed institutions simply to suit short-term political gains? So, who in 2020, and now once again, has boasted about packing the 156-year-old, nine-justice Supreme Court? Who talks frequently about… Continue reading Who Has Been Busy Destroying Democracy?
Why DEI Was Already Dying
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Donald Trump’s executive orders banning Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI)-related racial and gender preferencing have ostensibly doomed the DEI industry. But DEI was already on its last legs. Half of all Americans no longer approve of racial, ethnic, or gender preferences. DEI had enjoyed a surge following the death of George… Continue reading Why DEI Was Already Dying
Trump’s Unknown Frontiers
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Donald Trump’s far-ranging counter-revolution, to quote the old Star Trek mission statement, seeks “To boldly go where no one has gone before.” Because no conservative president has dared to question the last 70 years of progressive cultural, social, economic, and political dominance, all traditional wisdom, all our renowned “experts,” and… Continue reading Trump’s Unknown Frontiers
Revenge or Justice?
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard just released a trove of apparently once-classified documents—with promises of much more to follow. The new material describes the role of the Obama administration’s intelligence and investigatory directors—purportedly along with President Obama himself—in undermining the 2016 Trump presidential campaign. In addition, their efforts extended… Continue reading Revenge or Justice?
The War Between Trump’s Chemotherapy and the Biden Cancer
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness Chemotherapy can be a life-saving though sometimes toxic effort to eliminate lethal cancer cells before they kill the patient. As such, it can serve as a bitter metaphor for the often-controversial efforts of the Trump administration to undo the metastasizing damage caused by the Biden administration. The left and the… Continue reading The War Between Trump’s Chemotherapy and the Biden Cancer
The World Woke Up
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness In less than six months, the entire world has been turned upside down. There is no longer such a thing as conventional wisdom or the status quo. The unthinkable has become the banal. Take illegal immigration—remember the 10,000 daily illegal entries under Biden? Recall the only solution was supposedly “comprehensive immigration reform”—a euphemism for mass amnesties.… Continue reading The World Woke Up
The Decline and Fall of Our So-Called Degreed Experts
Victor Davis Hanson American Greatness The first six months of the Trump administration have not been kind to the experts and the degree-holding classes. Almost daily during the tariff hysterias of March, we were told by university economists and most of the PhDs employed in investment and finance that the U.S. was headed toward a… Continue reading The Decline and Fall of Our So-Called Degreed Experts
