  1. Working in 2016, a severe influenza began to sweep amongst us. Symptoms started as a tickle at the rear of the nasal passage, soon followed by a harsh coughing, rasping sore throat, then lung congestion, one said it felt like the brain had been replaced with an anvil. It abated after 10 – 14 days.
Recalling a Doctor’s comment about pathogens not being able to withstand higher temperatures in the body, having my usual preventative of putting saliva on my thumb and forefinger and snorting it to cover the rear of the nasal passage fail, and feeling the tickle growing stronger, I went home, put an extra blanket on my bed, some water on the bedside table, kept myself as hot as possible (light sweating) and stayed in bed (approx. 46 hours), only getting out to toilet. By the end of the second day the symptoms had been reduced by about 90%.
The third day, I went to work in the morning feeling normal, everyone was astonished that I had recovered so quickly.

Victor, I absolutely love your podcasts. I just purchased your book on WWII as I find it fascinating (and it had a huge impact on my family!).

I was tickled by your comment about the airport wheelchair brigade. I go on medical mission trips and we regularly comment in San Salvador. At that airport it appears (without exaggeration) that each gate has 20-30 wheelchairs lined up to board. It kind of reminded me of the starting line at the Indy 500.

    Keep up the wonderful work!

The 12 ft statue of an overweight black woman in Times Square is one of several blossoming all over the world. There is one in Rotterdam, one in the Piaza della Signoria in Florence (where the David was originally) and one in an unknown city (caption didn’t say). This is, I believe, a purposeful attack on wetern civilization and mores. By the way, when they installed the gigantic shuttlecocks on the lawns of the classical Nelson-Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City, they said they would be temporary. We cannot be allowed to have classical beauty in our lives. The Times Square statue doesn’t bother me but the Florentine statue makes me cry (which is probably the artist’s intention).

My flying started in 1956 on a C120 AF cargo plane. Later had a “training flight” in a T33 jet trainer. Still later in 1961 and ’63, in USAF, flew contractor flights in Boeing 707 from Travis AFB to Clark AB in Philippines and return. These flights were all civilized. First commercial flight on AA from DTM to SFO in 1968. First class, but everyone on plane was in “business” dress and very civilized. Became frequent flyer in 1980s and the world had changed. I was amazed by what passengers tried to bring on board and put in the overhead. As the decade progressed, the passengers became less civilized and the flying experience degraded. The best thing that happened to me on these flights was when the flight attendant came back and said the Captain invited me to fly in first class. Civilized in 1st class, cattle car in the rest of the airplane. Oh for the good old days! (With DEI,, etc., I decided to never to fly again.

Victor, I doubt the Bidens are out of money, rather holiding millions in offshore bank accounts with these shell corporations. If they were to transfer these funds to the States, the funds would be traceable.
