Just listened closely a 2nd time, & read the transcripts of Orange Man….Popular? to make sure I am correct in asking this question. re: Epstein’s miscreant behavior & how he accumulated half a billion dollars of wealth. “So he was trying to get lower people in and then capture them on tape, interacting with his women. And then he would go to them, I think that pretty much, I’m just quoting journalistic reports….So in their way of thinking, well, he’s not that great, but I’m not going to lose money, and he’s going to take a fee. And he was blackmailing people….Now we have access to DOJ, FBI, CIA files and we’ll find out who was being blackmailed and who had visited the sex dens, so to speak…”
My question centers around “journalistic reports”; what were those sources you quoted? All I can find sourced online is simply hearsay, conjecture, & speculation…but no hard, irrefutable evidence. So, why do I even ask? Because having listened to you for years now it is not your customary routine to quote hearsay sources, at least not without a sidebar clarifying that they are, indeed, hearsay. You seem to have back-channels to important information (I’m assuming through your various contacts at the Hoover Institution, Institute For The Study Of War, Hillsdale College, Pepperdine, Stanford University, etc.) which have enriched your listeners (I count myself as one) greatly.

When was Churchill’s Iron Curtain speech?
That was a big deal when I was growing up. You should play a clip of it.

Victor,
Just read that the Bayeux Tapestry will be exhibited at the British Museum next year to commemorate the 960th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. It was written in Latin, not French. Do you why this was?
The defeat of Saxon king Harold Godwinson by William of Normandy in 1066 changed Britain for ever linguistically. French was spoken at the English court and as French is a Romance language, Latin was introduced to English. Prior to the Norman invasion Britain was ruled by the Anglo-Saxons which is why English is primarily a Germanic language. But after the Norman conquest English gained, according to classicist Peter V. Jones, a much richer vocabulary. He cites, for example, the English word king which is derived from the German word könig. But also cites the word regal which is derived from the Latin verb regere.
Any chance you could talk a little bit about the Bayeux Tapestry and impact of the Norman conquest on the English language?

While I am a forever fan of Dr. Hanson and shall remain so, I do wish we could get a clean audio signal from him. Sami has a clean signal, same with Jack, same with the ads. The main attraction has a choppy signal for some reason.
He really deserves better.
