I liked the part about the Lizard !
In times of war, the veneers are stripped off, and survival is foremost.
Also one does’t have kill all the enemy
but break their will to fight and/or give them a better option..
I keep asking myself, by what measures did your parents endow such clear and calm perception in a child, as did your parents Dr Hanson? And further, if you found a way to pass your wisdom on to your own children? For try as I have for the best part of 82 years, I’ve never discovered the secret of that task, and I hope before I pass from this wonderful yet flawed country, you will write one book on the subject of parental endowment of wisdom, for that seems to be the central challenge of what another great writer titled “The Age Of Entitlement”?
The wise words on current events by VHD. As a relevant aside, I wrote a book about the Vietnam that captured the brilliance of LTC Richard Sweet who beat the NVA outside of Hue and was punished by his division commander for upstaging him. The similarity to Patton vs Ike and Bradley is striking. Charles Krohn (author The Lost Battalion of Tet)
Try watching this video on YouTube; been there, done that. Spent a significant part of two days this week “binge watching” you on YouTube and left replies on many. It’s how I discovered Blade of Perseus. Someone on your staff sent me an email several years ago stating: “We read everything”. Sincerely hope this is still your policy. VDH is on my subscription YouTube list. RS
I check daily on my YouTube subscription to see if there are new videos. I serendipitously find you on other sites (e.g., Pepperdine, Hoover Institute, Hillsdale College, etc.). I think it was John Anderson who very briefly mentioned Blade of Perseus while introducing you. I have to look behind several curtains in order to find you. I’m an octogenarian now and not at the “top of my game”. Will be 81 this month, that’s the pits! Regards, RS

Many thanks for a great review of Korean War and Vietnam War history, as well a great example of leadership by Lieutenant General Matthew Ridgway.
