Join Victor Davis Hanson and cohost Jack Fowler to talk about Pope Francis who recently passed away, immigration and security of nations, Steve Witkoff and the Middle East-Ukraine arenas, illegal immigration brings with it insidious problems, Canada’s elections, Panama Canal’s future, AOC-Sander’s fan base and the 1960s, Blue Origin flight, and the Trump-Harvard stand-off.
Dennis Prager once observed about Pope Francis that his theology was Catholic, but his worldview was Leftist. I think that was pretty insightful. As an American Catholic, I was not a fan of Francis.
When he fell ill, I thought he should have taken the opportunity to step down for reasons of health, and let the cardinals convene and select a new, younger pope. Preferably, hopefully, someone with a better focus on the real challenges facing our Church. Someone from Africa, for example, or from Asia, someplace where a Catholic, or an adherent of any Christian denomination, for that matter, faces real threats, even death, for our faith. That tends to focus the mind as opposed to us fat and happy Catholics in Europe, and North and South America.
Rest in peace, Francis, and let us move on.
