Last Thoughts on Election Day

Victor Davis Hanson and cohost Jack Fowler discuss the election: last polls, the call for Liz Cheney to face the reality of war, October surprises, political endorsements, insulting the electorate, breaking up the administrative state, Schumer advising anti-Semitic universities, and an analysis of California government inertia on the homeless-housing crisis.

  1. Victor while George Bush did not publically endorse Harris but he did write on his X account that he and his wife would be voting for harris. Below this tweet he referrs to Trump as a monster

  2. I am older than Victor Davis Hanson. I have learned to not trust all who pontificate re: what is in the best interest of the United States. I trust the views of Victor Davis Hanson to be reliable. I follow him for his perspective on current events.

  3. I would like you to interview a pollster. How many phone numbers do they call before someone answers the phone? Does everyone who answers the phone agree to answer the poll questions? Who are these people who answer the phone? Do they have caller id? Do they talk to many telemarketers, too?

  4. I feel a relief and joy at Trump’s victory I cannot express. I confess, I didn’t think it would happen. But, enough of my countrymen have seen through the charade. The deceit has failed. The time ahead may be choppy and nothing will come easily, but with the kind of people he now has around him, Trump has a chance to make a beginning for a foundational revival that seemed to be slipping away forever and now seems actually possible again. All hopes and prayers to him. Thanks VDH for being a lantern in the fog.

  5. Trump might not seek retribution for the indictments & lawfare, but, to some extent, there needs to be a day of reckoning for the Clintons, Podestas, Obamas, Bidens, et al., to prove we don’t have a 2-tier justice system for the well-connected. It’ll be cathartic as well, so that we can move on.
P.S. The non-violent J6ers need to go home to their families, and Rudy Guiliani needs to be restored to good health & financial well-being.

I agree with you. And I think there will be legitimate investigations, and charges where appropriate.
Some convictions may lead to pardons, too, as appropriate.

    2. Craig,

Watching Hillary Clinton beat the rap for the 30k destroyed emails and Bleachbit devices was sickening. Especially when they went after Donald Trump tooth and tong in the bogus Russian collusion scam that was based on the Steele dossier that Hillary commissioned. Unbelievable!

And of course there are many more disgusting examples, such as the 51 intel experts who signed the letter declaring the “Laptop from Hell” was Russian disinformation just in time to save Joe Biden’s corrupt heinie in the last week of the 2020 election. There has also been the incessant stream of lies and insults slung at president Trump by retired military brass. These people are a disgrace to their uniforms and anathema to a virtuous republic.

However, with that said, Donald Trump will only have two years to really get anything done before our razor thin House majority will have to be defended. I hope he cleans house and picks his cabinet members and advisors wisely. He will have to be as smart as possible to get the biggest bang for his recent political bucks.

  6. I agree with your ideas about breaking up the administrative state and getting them out of the “beltway bubble”. It would be ironic to put the FBI in Kansas City, since the Union Station Massacre was the impetus for Hoover to expand the FBI’s scope and power. Maybe they could even put the Director’s office in Union Station.
