The problem is that we’re talking about cultural values, and individual virtues.
If we believe that the values of a rural, agricultural society, such as we had in the first 100 years of the Republic or so, then it follows that we should follow those values.
The challenge is that if people don’t want to, in a society based on individual liberty, then we can’t coerce them to do so. Human nature is a tough thing to overcome. Maybe its the reef on which our ship eventually grounds and then sinks.
