Listen to Victor Davis Hanson and cohost Jack Fowler discuss the fallout from Kamala’s interview with Bret Baier, the Al Smith Memorial Dinner, thoughts on J6 show trials, RFK, Jr. receiving the Left’s apostate treatment, Trump at a barber shop, and Israel taking out Yahya Sinwar and doing other dirty work for the US.
Regarding the Andrew McCarthy NR article – it becomes more understandable if we simply accept that McCarthy believes that “Trump is unfit for office” because of the events of J6.
That is the only “disqualifying fact” against Trump presented by McCarthy in the piece. The rest of the article is pretty solid IMO.
McCarthy also despises Trump’s decorum, his mean Tweets, etc – but he’s smart enough not to advance that as his raison d’etre for his case against Trump’s electability.
Never mind that the J6 events were exaggerated and spun by Trump’s detractors – and those detractors are legion. Jack and Victor briefly go over some of the exaggerations in this podcast.
So now we have, according to McCarthy, Trump and The Trump Administration – as if they are separate things that have almost nothing to do with each other. The Trump Administration was pretty good, acknowledges McCarthy – particularly when compared against the Biden/Harris administration.
This seems to be a bit of a contortion by McCarthy, particularly when he writes the following:
“Democrats have a long history of denying they lost elections, attempting to de-legitimize Republican administrations (including Trump’s), and rioting when they don’t get their way. They have no moral high ground on election denial and political violence — the points they are trying to run on.”
Doesn’t that take a bit of steam out of the J6 case against Trump – or do we only prosecute Republicans?
You guys mention Casey and Harris ads that make them sound like Trump, but I have to say that I live in PA and I have not seen nor heard any such ads from those two. Not on TV nor on the radio. I see and hear attack ads, and those overwhelmingly from Harris. From Casey, the few ads I’ve seen and heard have been on the theme of “Casey did this for us” or “did that for us”, “so I’m voting for Bob Casey!”
As far as Casey is concerned, though, I have seen and heard far more ad content attacking him for supporting the Democrat White Houses under Obama and Biden, and their foolish policies.
It’s interesting that the Salem Network has a lot of Harris ads attacking Trump. Some are from women who claim he assaulted them 30 years ago. And on TV and radio, there are other attack ads are just out-‘n’-out lies, that he’ll issue a nationwide abortion ban, that Agenda 25 is “Trump’s plan”, etc.
What is aggravating about those ads is that they will influence people who don’t pay attention, or who don’t pay close enough attention, or react with their emotions instead of stopping to think critically or skeptically about things they hear and read.
A followup-since I listened to this podcast yesterday, I’ve heard mention of Casey’s ads trying to claim Trump’s positions, on Chris Stigall’s radio show. I haven’t heard them myself, just more of the ads attacking him (and rightly so). But it’s apparently the latest tack from the Casey campaign. I don’t think he’s going to fool anyone.
Love Victor Davis Hanson and his analysis of political and military.
