In this episode, Victor Davis Hanson and co-host Jack Fowler discuss President Biden’s health and his recent cancer diagnosis, the controversies surrounding Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Biden administration’s handling of COVID mandates, labeling opponents as domestic extremists, cuts to the National Security Council, nuclear energy, and concerns over Chinese technology in solar energy systems.
Hi. Regarding presidential powers to censure and deport MS13 gangs: Why are they not treated like the Barbary Pirates? These were non state beligerents that were treated like a nation we were at war with. Why is this not acceptable?
thanks
richard
Dr. Hanson .. as retired airline cockpit & cabin crew members we share your frustration with the dumpster fire commercial air travel has become .. our year-round travel within the states remain predominantly via auto sans the TSA & emotional support parakeets in the cabin. Frequent trips to Hillsdale (.. where we’ve enjoyed your lectures enormously..) enable us to maintain some semblance of sanity in a rollercoaster world. We’re prepared to offer you reliable portage by way of dutifully maintained auto from Selma to the Dow Center at an hour of your choosing kind sir. Anita & Bill
Dr. Hanson, you were wondering why Hollywood gives CCP a free pass. Follow the money. Hollywood make millions and millions on Chinese viewers: if they tow the line. You actually remarked on how the Maverick movie was asked to remove the Taiwanese symbol from the flight jacket, initially did, and then restored it. Wasn’t screened in China as a result. The actor/wrestler John Cena caught a great amount of flack, rightly, for some of the pro-Chinese statements he made. Stopped wearing the Marine Corps cover he sported for a couple of years after being in “The Marine.” Was asked to stop wearing it due to his pro-Chinese stands. He complied. The money he gets made it worth it. Russia can’t bribe Hollywood so it can dump all over it.
Hi, Jack and Sami. Could you please explain the legitimate uses of the autopen on the podcast? Presidents often send hundreds, if not thousands, of photos and letters of gratitude to their supporters. The autopen serves a proper purpose that might be overlooked in conversations about it. I remember hearing that under certain circumstances, the autopen can be used for official documents, but only for those that are purely administrative and routine. The President should always personally sign pardons, orders, agreements, and similar documents in the presence of witnesses. It is a matter of common sense, which the founders did not address, as they had no such device. Clarifying the typical uses of the autopen might help readers and viewers understand that its legitimate uses stand in stark contrast to the practices of the shadow administration that governed the country for four years.
