Regarding the birthright citizenship question before the Supreme Court, even though I have not read the brief, it does seem to establish that there are two qualifications for citizenship; 1) “born or naturalized in the United States” and 2) “subject to jurisdiction.” This raises the following questions a). whose “jurisdiction? Federal Jurisdiction only?; b). if someone is born to American Citizens in a foreign land, but outside the grounds of the US embassy, are they really Citizens? c). if someone is born within a US territory, such as the Philippines before WW II, are they American Citizens? and d) Since Native Americans were treated as “Indian Tribes”, are they still American Citizens? This issue seems to involve more than those who are “immigrants” Prof Hanson, will this be the resurgence of citizenship?

  2. General comment – request you interview R.R. Reno on his book *Return of the Strong Gods*

    Dr. Hanson
Having read your *The Second World Wars* I began to understand and physically and emotionally relate to the catastrophic death and destruction that it wrought. Recently I read Reno’s book which seeks to capture the predominate intellectual reaction to WWI and WWII which he labels “the postwar consensus……..anti-fascist, anti-totalitarian, anti-colonialist, anti-imperialist and anti-racist”. His book makes the case that this anti regime births the “open society” ala Karl Poppers *The Open Society and its Enemies*. A society opposed to any Strong Gods like truth, religion, nation etc. The Strong Gods, the postwar consensus proponents believe, led to these wars and in order to avoid future wars we must never let them arise again. This anti-regime, he goes on to argue, has morphed into the corrupt West we live in today and so it must be countered. Thus, his title the *Return of the Strong Gods*. In any case I think the context he has created is a powerful explicator of where we are today. I’m hoping you’ll consider engaging Mr. Reno in an interview.

  3. cannot believe any rational human being could try and prop up a deranged senile psycho like Trump….but here it is

  4. Barry & Hillary are political dinosaurs. They profited from their time in office and should move on. Ironically, their liberal ideologies are now being dismantled by a conservative Gen Z.

I don’t understand how anyone can claim that the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment applies to tourists. Senator Jacob Howard of Michigan wrote the language of the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment, which guarantees birthright citizenship for all persons born within U.S. jurisdiction. He spent years traveling throughout the country explaining that it was intended to right the wrongs of the Dred Scott decision and did not apply to casual residents/tourists. These speeches are a matter of public record.

  6. Guys, I love you, but the number of ads is staggering in just the last month or 2+ the ads sent in your name without any content. Tell me what I need to pay, but this is ridiculous, half the show is “these important messages, etc.“

Why don’t Obama and Hilary retire?
It’s because they are Leftists, Jack. Progressives. They never quit. Their sense of self-righteousness won’t let them quit. Because ultimately, they are trying to establish Heaven on Earth. They can’t give up that crusade.

Or to paraphrase Reese in “The Terminator”,

“They can’t be bargained with. They can’t be reasoned with. They don’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, ever!”

    That’s progressive!
