  1. Justification for the regulatory state and the costs and inconvenience it imposes on us is that it keeps us safe. But what is the point if the state hands out CDLs like Pez? More and more, it seems as though government only exists today as little more than a shakedown racket that favors some people while punishing others based solely on politics.

  2. Here in New Jersey, gas stations are mostly run by folks from the Indian subcontinent…now, they also own the tankers that deliver the gasoline. The guy in Florida was hauling dry freight…. Which is bad enough… but, how about the same driver hauling HazMat…9000 gallons of gasoline or diesel fuel…talk about a tragedy waiting to happen.

  3. Bronson by a mile as an avatar for the Republicans as played in “Hard Times”.

That leaves nervous and easily frightened Knotts for the Dems or maybe Marty Feldman.

Suggesting either Bronson or Don Knotts as an avatar for the Democrats is an insult to both actors.

A better avatar for the Democrats, and for Leftists/progressives in general, is the famous-or infamous- tort lawyer Marvin Belli, in his role as the Gorgan in the “Star Trek” episode, “And the Children Shall Lead”. A pleasing exterior and tantalizing promises, that lead the children to murder their parents and head towards their own destruction.

    A perfect avatar for Leftsts/progressives.

Mephistopheles is another good one. Same thing-honeyed promises, that really lead to destruction.
