Victor Davis Hanson he explains why he thinks Jeffrey Epstein “was too clever” to ever leave behind “a notebook” or “incriminating tapes with sex.” “I don’t think he had anything. And I don’t think that [Donald] Trump will pardon [Ghislaine] Maxwell. I think she’s going to sit there [prison] the rest of her life.” Additionally, Hanson weighs in on the ongoing search for Nancy Guthrie, the missing 84-year-old mother of NBC host Savannah Guthrie, as well as the Winter Olympics taking place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Welcome back Prof Hanson… In regards to the Civil War… although there is still nothing in our Constitution about how or when a State may leave the Union, nor about how or when the Federal Government may prohibit it. The trauma of the Civil War has caused States to tread easy on “States Rights” and it set Non-Constitutional precedents for preserving the Union.
Why is it even a question that Trump would pardon Ghislaine Maxwell? She was responsible for the misery of many young girls. POlitically, she has no hold over Trump himself, Epstein was deeper into the Democrats anyway, and the Republicans she most likely has dirt on are also most likely to be statists and Never Trumpers who have already shown that they will replay any consideration from Trump with backstab. Trump loses little letting her rot and takes on serious negatives if he pardons her.
Charles,
Gu is bright and talented, but she’s also utterly despicable. I mean, of all the countries she could’ve switched allegiances she chose the CCP, our arch enemy. This would be like Bobby Fischer suddenly playing chess for the Soviets during the Cold War.
I haven’t read Peter Schweizer’s new book Invisible Coup yet, but I heard him talk about it on the radio the other day. He details how the Chinese are exploiting our immigration laws to allow Chinese nationals who were born in the U.S. to vote in our elections. Gu seems like one of them. I hope the Supreme Court abolishes birth right citizenship for people who have no allegiance to America (before it’s too late).
I’m tired of this Epstein twaddle.
I don’t care for Eileen Gu but you need to do more research before stating that she is just a pretty girl without great talent. At age 18, Gu became the youngest Olympic champion in freestyle skiing after winning gold medals in big air and halfpipe, and a silver medal in slopestyle, at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. She is the first freestyle skier to win three medals at a single Winter Olympics. Her decision to compete for China was controversial, drawing international attention. She won a second silver medal in slopestyle at these Olympics but has generated controversy by asking the Committee to reschedule later events so she could train for them. She is the only athlete signed up for her events.
Chinese citizenship is on her mother’s side. Her mother earned a Masters in Chemical Engineering at Beijing University, Gu, herself, got early admission at Stanford University after scoring 1580 out of 1600 on the SAT. She is an International Relations major there now (undoubtedly a woke course).
