Hillary Clinton’s second race for the presidency is only about a quarter through, but she already seems to be causing general fatigue.
The lurid revelations about the Clinton Foundation proved that it was not so much a charity as a huge laundering operation. Quid pro quo donations from the global rich and powerful fueled the Clintons’ jet-setting networking.
In between political campaigns, the foundation provided sinecures for out-of-work Clinton politicos. This is hardly proof of Hillary’s grass-roots progressivism.
Then came Clinton’s e-mail fiasco. No one knows how the current investigation of her alleged misuse of e-mail accounts, servers, and classified information will end up. But most people accept that it was an unnecessary and self-induced scandal, brought on both by her paranoia and habitual expectation of being exempt from the law.
ABC News just disclosed that ex-president Bill Clinton sought huge speaking fees from foreign governments (well over a half-million dollars per talk), while Hillary was secretary of state. Unfortunately, some of his proposed speaking deals involved odious regimes like those of Congo and North Korea. This year, Hillary herself routinely charged universities $200,000 to $300,000 for brief talks — after decrying the cash-strapped status of indebted students. What will the Clintons not do to make money?
All these imbroglios raise more issues. Was Senator Barack Obama, largely a political unknown at the time, really all that unstoppable in 2008? Or did Hillary simply blow a 30-point lead in the polls because then as now she proved a lousy candidate?
Can’t Hillary Clinton turn voters’ attention to her recent stewardship of American foreign policy?
Most of what happened on her watch as secretary of state is better forgotten: the destruction of a self-reliant Iraq, the rise of the Islamic State, chaos in Libya, failed reset with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, disaster in Benghazi, the alienation of Israel and moderate Arab nations, and Iran’s ascendant.
Instead of hailing her foreign-policy tenure, Clinton is now attacking her critics.
Clinton just blasted her Republican opposition, some of whom want various federal agencies to cite undocumented immigrants who broke federal law, and then process them for deportation before hearing their applications for amnesty. She misleadingly equated that position with wanting to “literally pull people out of their homes and their workplaces, round them up and, I don’t know, put them in buses or boxcars, in order to take them across the border.”
#share#Is it wise to tar critics with the infamous imagery of the Holocaust, in which Jews were rounded up, put in boxcars and sent to death camps?
After all, Clinton’s own prior positions on immigration were akin to those of many of the Republicans she now attacks. Here is what then-senator Clinton asserted in 2003: “I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants.” Note her use of the personal “immigrants,” rather than the abstract “immigration.”
Last week, Clinton compared Republican opponents of abortion to “terrorist groups” who “don’t want to live in the modern world.”
But such ad hominem attacks on free expression are exactly what Clinton once denounced. “I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic,” she said in 2003, ironically during the George W. Bush presidency.
Clinton’s serial meltdowns may bring Vice President Joe Biden into the race. The only other serious Democratic alternative to Clinton at the moment is 73-year-old socialist Bernie Sanders. He is not registered in the party whose nomination he seeks.
Clinton’s derailment has given breathing space to Republicans. Otherwise, they would be panicking that erratic showman Donald Trump has hijacked their party and might lead it to a meltdown in 2016.
Both parties face crises — though there are more viable Republican alternatives to Trump than there are strong Democratic choices, at least for now. And whereas the upbeat Trump would probably agree with — or even welcome — charges that he is an egomaniac, Clinton would hardly accept the equally common impression that she cannot tell the truth.
Hillary’s latest troubles reflect a quarter-century of Clinton habits that transcend time and space.
Both Bill and Hillary seem to have always believed they should be exempt from the law. Both seem needlessly tawdry in their avarice. Their cover-ups often prove even more damaging than their indiscretions.
Bill was always the far better speaker and political schmoozer than Hillary. And now Hillary is proving — again — that she prefers slandering accusers rather than refuting accusations.
Are Hillary’s first four and a half months of campaigning a glimpse of the next 14?
If so, the Democratic party — and the country — are going to be utterly exhausted.

Let the Hillary melt-down continue. Gun Owners of America (GOA) just made their presidential endorsement for Ted Cruz.
If she manages to survive the primary process and ultimately wins the general election then we deserve her. Send home the band, lower the flags, burn the ships at mooring.
It’s more evident than ever, today, how much harm a POTUS can willfully wreak on our country in just a term and a half. Thusly it’s more important than ever to soberly understand the importance of ‘defrocking’ the Clintons. It may be chancy but Hillary needs to go ‘full term’ on her quest for the office so as to be defeated absolutely, and finally!
I can’t wait until the FBI finds dozens, hundreds, maybe even thousands of e-mails she sent and received from her boss in the WH!!!
And then let us hear her pathetic lament, “I neither sent or received anything that was marked “classifed!”
By virtue of her position over 4 years as Sec. of State & that of the President of the U.S., everything between them was IMMEDIATELY either CLASSIFIED or TOP SECRET!!!
It’s a classic replay of “the dog that didn’t bark” scenario.
The public will never know the truth from this woman. Her entire public persona has been to lie, cheat and steal .She never returned all of the furnishings she stole from the White rHouse as she and Bill left the premises.. The families ot the Ben Ghazi debacle will never know the truth about their loved ones who lost their lives. She, in effect is also protecting Obama by with holding the truth. I hope and pray the F.B.I can re-create the e-mails about Ben Ghazi and bring her to justice–Oh wait–any prosecution of Hilary’s criminality will have to wait for the next administration and a real ,honest and non-political Justice Dept.. We the people currently do not have a justice dept.
stick a fork in her. she’s done. she has, of course, about $2 billion stuck away to tide her over in her “retirement,” so don’t feel too sorry for her. time for her to sit back in the rocking chair, and suck down whiskey and smoke cigars w/ bill, on the front porch.
The faster the Clinton campaign derails, the better for all concerned, maybe even the Hillary. What she has done is unpardonable, and unbelievable in someone who has held one of the “great offices of state”, as the British would say. Unbelievable until she did it! When I was seven years old – 7 – I had my first lesson in security, to the effect that I must not under any circumstances to anything to compromise my father’s security clearance (he was a staff officer in the RCAF). And yet the Hillary compromises the security of the United States of America in regard to some of its most essential programs! And it gets worse – she has taken money from very dubious and probably hostile external forces, in return for favours done for them.
It’s not very far from that, is it Dr. Hanson, to the E-word and the T-word? Even if Hillary’s services to foreign powers do not extend quite that far (but all too close) she has shown herself to have violated the public trust, and to have shown herself utterly unworthy of the public trust; utterly unworthy of the great office to which she aspires.
I think you’re wrong. I think the Dim-o’s have their fingers directly on the pulse of the American people. We want a frumpy hag, with a voice so shrill it makes fingernails on a chalkboard sound like a babbling brook by comparison, in the Oval Office. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
The funny thing is, for all her “splendor,” the Dim-o’s realize that she will stand a much better chance in the general than either Biden or Sanders. It sure is fun to watch them squirm. I guess after the Messiah ascends, things aren’t always peaches and cream for the apostles who get left behind.
The laugh on the mainstream Republi-can’ts may turn out to be that the Dim-o’s inability to field even a half-decent candidate becomes Trump’s final ticket into the White House, which is the last thing they or any professional politico wants.
Might I humbly suggest suppuku?
A tiny quibble: “the Messiah” will descend since he is the agent of satan. Otherwise, you are 99% correct!
She’s trying to manufacture authenticity. She’s as phony as they come. Hopefully, people will see through her latest attempt to re-introduce her to the voters. My goodness, she’s been around for 35 plus years. There is nothing new here. We get that she’s a liar and has only her own self-interest at heart.
Hillary “re-setting” Putin is like an ugly yellow minion telling Darth Vader to leave the toilet seat down.
Gary Aldrich “Unlimited Access” a Secret Service agent at the WH during the transition and the early years of the co-presidency of the Clintons. He was responsible for the background checks for security clearances of all WH staffers that the Clintons were bringing onboard. You think her present security breaches are new…this is a deep set pattern of disregard of the law by the Clintons, as presented in this book.
Another book worth reading is Whittaker Chambers “Witness”. I’ve just finished this marvelous book along with the Verdona Papers. Hillary Clinton is Alger Hiss reincarnated, the torch bearer of those who know the best way: liberalism, progressivism, communism.
“Verdona Papers”?? You read them? All? Pretty long and arcane read. And you can’t even spell “Venona”?
C’mon, man…
