A video recently appeared of an Islamic Sunni cleric in Syria inciting Muslim schoolboys, most of whom appear \u00a0to be between the ages of five-twelve, to hate and kill Christians and others.<\/p>\n

According to a\u00a0report<\/a>in Arabic (scroll down for video), among other things, the sheikh calls on the children to \u201cslaughter all Christians for being infidels\u201d and that he boasted that \u201cthe Christians of Syria are under continuous attack and their churches and monasteries subject to violence.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the video, the sheikh first \u00a0talks of Islam\u2019s egalitarianism\u2014that it does not consider the race, nationality, or language of people, only whether they have submitted to Islam by becoming Muslims or not\u2014adding, \u201cbecause the entire world is for Allah.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then tells the children that \u201cIslam uplifts the Muslims and debases the non-Muslims,\u201d while raising one hand, symbolic of Islam, and lowering the other, symbolic of all non-Islam, to drive the point home to his young audience.<\/p>\n

Next the sheikh asked the children, \u201cNow, the crusaders, that is, the Christians, are they Muslims or infidels?\u201d A few boys answer, \u201cinfidels.\u201d<\/p>\n

He agreed, pointing out that various Koran verses say that whoever says Jesus is the son of God (that is, Allah) or that he is God is an infidel (see\u00a0Koran 5:73 and 5:17<\/a>).<\/p>\n

To clarify the point to those children unable to understand all this \u201ctheological\u201d talk, the cleric made the sign of the cross, saying \u201cChristians are they who do this.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then moved on to the Alawites, the Shia sect of President Bashar Assad, and called on the children to slaughter anyone belonging to them\u2014making a knife-slitting motion with his hand across his neck\u2014because they too are infidels.<\/p>\n

The sheikh further told the children in attendance that what they are being taught in schools\u2014<\/p>\n

that Christians and Alawites are their \u201cbrothers\u201d and they are all one nation\u2014is false and a lie against Islam. This would be a reference to the highly divisive Islamic doctrine of loyalty and enmity, which commands Muslims to hate all non-Muslims\u2014even if they are married to them<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As for the school text books that the boys are taught from\u2014which he said teach all Syrians to treat each other as \u201cbrothers\u201d and as \u201cone nation,\u201d regardless of religion\u2014these he called \u201cpoisonous,\u201d since \u201cthese teachings contradict the law [Sharia] of Allah.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, while confirming that some non-Muslims have \u201crights\u201d under Islam\u2014a reference to third-class\u00a0dhimmi<\/em>\u00a0status\u2014he called on the children never to show any love for Christians or Alawites, even if they are their neighbors.<\/p>\n
