Your analytical and managerial\nskills result in a high Angry Reader score: no detail or evidence to support\nyour venom, plenty of profanity and crudity (crap, assholes, bullshit, ass,\nshit, Bitch, f\u2014\u2014g, the neologisms (TRumphole), the strange vocabulary\n(defalcate [\u201cembezzle\u201d] for \u201cdefecate”), the usual misinformation (Hoover\nInstitution<\/strong>, and general incoherence (\u201cand I\u2019d defalcate not in the\nstreet but in your so could spew more shit!\u201d). All that earns an 8.5 on the\nAngry Reader scale. If your Angry Reader rant is a really the work of a former\ntop CIA official, then perhaps it is valuable to readers in explaining the\ncareers of some of its hierarchy such as John Brennan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for your argument,\nthere is none. So I\u2019ll quickly reply to the silliness. Newspapers select op-eds\nthey purchase from syndicators to spark discussion. In some sense your rant is\na form of discussion, so their intent was realized. I would imagine that if you\nwent online and tabulated Hoover fellows\u2019 campaign contributions there were\nmore donors to the 2020 Biden than to the Trump campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m not sure what you\ncall \u201cright-wing\u201d; 15 years ago the Democratic Party advocated legal only and\ndiverse, meritocratic, and measured immigration, but then again Obama himself\nran in 2008 on secure borders, opposition to gay marriage, and a balanced\nbudget. Please cite where I \u201cattack immigrants.\u201d Opposing illegal, massive, and\nnon-diverse immigration is not an attack on \u201cimmigrants\u201d but support for legal\nimmigration. I imagine I live in an area with a far higher immigrant population,\nboth legal and not, than in your own region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is certainly\ntrue that red-states were more reluctant to impose complete lockdowns, you\ncould at least try to make the argument that Florida and Texas fared far worse,\ncase- and death-wise than locked down states like similarly sized New York\u2014well\naside from the greater economic, social, and cultural damage to New York than\nin Florida and Texas. But, of course, you cannot. I don\u2019t see how the infection\nand lethality rates in Michigan, Massachusetts, or Connecticut are arguments\nfor the blue-state, complete quarantine paradigm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As far as vaccinating,\nthere are two groups who so far show some resistance to it; one are\nconservative traditionalists who feel it impinges on their freedom or do not\ntrust government assurances of safety. But the other are minority groups,\nespecially African-Americans who likewise are statistically hesitant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So there is no real\npolitical pattern here that you insinuate. I have always supported vaccination\n(and was vaxed the moment my age group was eligible), wearing masks where\nreasonable, and keeping a distance from others while indoors at the zenith of\nthe epidemic. I wish BLM, Antifa, and LA Laker fan base had followed such\nguidelines when they violated all those protocols\u2014ironically often supported by\nsome health care officials who signed petitions claiming the protestors had\ngood medical reasons to violate the quarantine leveled on all others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of Americans have\nimmune challenges and health issues. They have good medical reasons not to be\nvaccinated. And the idea that we would reduce them to second-class citizenry is\nnot feasible or desirable. The likelihood that herd immunity will be achieved\nwith 80-85 percent of the population vaccinated or with antibodies will allow\nsmall populations with either medical or religious reasons to avoid vaccination\nnot to pose an existential threat to others, especially when a new generation\nof pharmaceuticals are on the horizon that offer hope in rendering symptomatic\nCOVID-19 to flu or cold status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
