The Trump administration also hoped a strapped Iran would become less capable of funding terrorist operations in the Middle East and beyond, proxy wars in the Persian Gulf, and the opportune harassment of ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sanctions are clearly destroying an already weak Iranian economy.
