The published piece was \u201cedited and condensed for\nclarity\u201d; however, the editing was done so in a way that omits the\nchronological accuracy of our conversation and the vast majority of what was\nsaid, which I think is important for purposes of context, tone, and intent\u2014both\nMr. Chotiner\u2019s and my own. There are also introductory false accusations of \u201ca\nhistory of hostility to undocumented Mexican and Central American immigrants\u2026and\nto African-Americans who speak about the persistence of racism.\u201d Neither charge\nis remotely true. If Mr. Chotiner would release an accurate transcription of\nour \u201clong conversation,\u201d there will appear wide discrepancies in tone, intent,\nand content from the published interview. This is exactly why many people today\nhave distrust of many in media and reflect upon the unprofessionalism that\noccurs too often.
