{"id":11458,"date":"2018-10-19T10:47:49","date_gmt":"2018-10-19T17:47:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/victorhanson.com\/wordpress\/?p=11458"},"modified":"2018-10-19T10:47:49","modified_gmt":"2018-10-19T17:47:49","slug":"world-economic-forum-confirms-the-us-is-great-again-under-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/victorhanson.com\/wordpress\/world-economic-forum-confirms-the-us-is-great-again-under-trump\/","title":{"rendered":"World Economic Forum confirms the US is great again under Trump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Please read this piece by my colleague Paul Roderick Gregory in The Hill<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The World Economic Forum\u2019s (WEF) 2018\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/reports\/the-global-competitiveness-report-2017-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Competitiveness Report<\/a> ranks the United States No. 1 in global competitiveness, up from\u00a0No. 3 in the past few years and its first top ranking in a decade. A high ranking matters.<\/p>\n<p>As the WEF\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2017\/09\/what-is-economic-competitiveness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports<\/a>: \u201cGlobal competitiveness is determined by the set of institutions, policies and factors that determine the level of productivity of a country \u2026 And productivity leads to growth &#8230; and improved well-being.&#8221; The U.S.\u2019s top ranking therefore suggests a lot of growth and prosperity to come.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Davos elite (who are no fans of\u00a0<span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\"><a class=\"rollover-people-link\" href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/donald-trump\" data-nid=\"261287\">Donald Trump<\/a><\/span>), the U.S. is indeed \u201cgreat again,\u201d to borrow a Trumpian slogan. It is the country, according to the WEF, that should best prosper in Davos\u2019 \u201cfourth industrial revolution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the world\u2019s most innovative economy, America is well positioned to take advantage of the new competitive environment.
