Is Racism Moral Now?

Victor Davis Hanson // American Greatness

Whiteness is a public health crisis. It shortens life expediencies, it pollutes air, it constricts equilibrium, it devastates forests, it melts ice caps, it sparks (and funds) wars, it flattens dialects, it infests consciousnesses, and it kills people . . .

—Damon Young, New York Times contributor

Over the past year, I have, of course, still had to interact with white people on Zoom or watch them on television or worry about whether they would succeed in reelecting a white-supremacist president. But white people aren’t in my face all of the time. I can, more or less, only deal with whiteness when I want to . . . White people haven’t improved; I’ve just been able to limit my exposure to them.

  1. Excellent analysis of racial stereotypes mow attempting a “bottom rail on too” transformation of power strata in our country. Race is being used as the code that miscasts the real disqualifiers and discriminators that are now carving us into elites and outcasts in the woke mindset. I hope this pendulum starts swinging the other way.

  2. Are we entering an era in which racism has become the accusation of choice whenever self styled elitists wish to distinguish themselves from those they look down upon as members of the great unwashed?

  3. I like this and I would be happy to host Ms. Mystal at our home for a week. Kind an immersion therapy program. We are true westerners, Christians and most definitely white. Ms. Mystal would either emerge as a better person or her neuroses might put her over the edge. We are just not very woke here.

  5. Masterful ridicule of the antiracism racism to which some have been herded. I wish I could remember so many poignant quotes from this piece!

  6. Racist attitudes and behaviors are almost always the result of a false sense of superiority, coupled with a desire to oppress or destroy anyone we see as being beneath us. The prejudice is in the thinking of a racist.
